A Gift and a Curse || If You Don't See Me Tomorrow
If you have ever been so embarrassed at some point in your life that you wanted the ground to swallow you up, then having the power to turn invisible in that moment wouldn't seem far-fetched at all. But those kinds of scenarios don't just happen every day. What other things would one do if they had that ability to be unseen, literally? It's an interesting perspective, and here are my ideas.
Being invisible is an ability that obviously gives one the privilege of walking around undetected, and it's a really cool one too. Human sight is probably the most powerful ability we have, and so to be able to bypass that is a really delicate matter. "Out of sight, out of mind," they say.
I'll take it that there can only be three types of people if they have this ability: the ones that would play the villains, the ones that would play the heroes, and the ones that would be in the middle.
I would like to rule out being the villain because, well, it is a total waste of opportunity. Of what use is making a misery out of other people going to be for me? I'll pass.
Wearing a cape and a mask
Being a hero is a good thing. Everyone loves good people, except the ones who don't like good people. And there is so much that needs to be done. It'll be a challenge to pick the things to do out of the vast number of things to fix in this world, especially with having the ability for only 24 hours.
If I were to play a hero, there would be a lot of good I could do, like playing Robin Hood, who provides for the poor. There is also playing witness to crime scenes and vindicating the innocent. One could also use their invisibility to expose corruption in our governments. That could bring positive change for the people and the country.
Playing games
Choosing the last of the three, being neither a villain nor a hero, I could indulge myself in experiences I would not even have under normal circumstances. For one, I could get myself nice things. I'd walk in and walk out like it never happened.
Another could be playing harmless pranks on my friends to make some fun out of it all. If not that, I could eavesdrop on conversations, and probably I would be able to tell who is being naughty or nice. That would save Santa a lot of trouble in December, and I would make the "nice" list.
But the drawbacks...
The thing, however, is that being invisible comes with its drawbacks. One would be the fact that being invisible might require not having any clothes on. This is going to be such an inconvenient thing to do, walking around like an ape. What happens when the clock runs out and the ability wears off? Let's tame our imaginations for this subject.
Another thing about being invisible is that it doesn't mean one is totally undetectable or untouchable. Imagine being on the street when someone runs into you with their car. Before we even speculate on your survival, it sure is no brainer that the driver ran into you; clearly, you were never there to him. I hope the ambulance will be able to find you, since they wouldn't be able to see you either.
Besides, being invisible is so damn lonely and boring (after all the fun and excitement is done). How is anyone going to be friends with a ghost? Pretty spooky, innit?
"With great power comes great responsibility," as said in Spiderman. That is, the ability to be invisible is indeed a powerful one and should be used responsibly, making it a gift. However, when one factors in the drawbacks it presents, it may very well be considered a curse.
The million-dollar question now would be, "What then will I do if I have the ability to be invisible for twenty-four hours?" Well, to put the billion ideas I have in my head simply, the answer would be "nothing."
I'd rather just sit at home and pretend like nothing ever happened. It's only twenty-four hours, anyway. It's hard to save the world in a day, and I don't want to risk getting hurt or becoming visible with no clothes on. So, if you literally "don't see" me tomorrow, I'm doing nothing about it. Or maybe prank my roommate a little. Too bad he doesn't exist.
The ability to turn invisible is a boring power to me. yeah, you can do many things with it but I don't really see the fun in it. What happened to super strength with the ability to fly. Those are the options I want.
Indeed, it is a boring superpower. It's no surprise that there isn't that many successful comics on invisible superheroes. The only one I can think of is the Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four. She wasn't all that interesting.
Other abilities like flying, super speed, and super strength would be more useful.
Yay! 🤗

Only a man with a good heart like yours can/should wish for this kind of ability. Believe me, if a fragment of this thought were to flash in my head, then the real thought would be how to earn big with it, I mean it will be at the top of my scale.
IKR, no long cap but I'm only human[smiles]...
...Forget the boring part ooo, I'll create my own fun when the ability wears off(LMAO).
Ok I get why you would do nothing for that day.
But I think you could be on clothes before you become invisible.
Yeah, it's possible. I see it in films that some turn invisible with their clothes on. Oftentimes, however, they would need some special suits.
The special suit in most movies is kind of to enhance their abilities.
Indeed. I agree.
Yea.
Well, I assume you won´t be caught naked because you would have known when the clock will turn off and before then, you would have gone back to your hiding spot or room to avoid that. Lol
At least being the hero and in the middle while doing what you love is great too. We cannot provide for the whole world even if you are given more than 24 hours, but the ones you are able to provide for would be happy and that is all that matters.
I totally get your points. One can do a lot in 24 hours but is it really fun? I think it is just for being naughty or nosy. However as you said it could be dangerous too or one can be helpful.
It is lonely however and somewhat creepy. 24 hours might even be too long.😀
Indeed, 24 hours might be too long!
I mean, it goes against our natural instinct against being lonley. I don't want that, please. 😄
I agree 😆
😂😂 I think the taming imaginations thingy got me, I had to call my imagination back.
Now that you mention it, being invisible doesn't making you immune to other senses. It'd be a shame to die invisible, that'd be unmemorable 🤧😂.
I absolutely follow on your choice. Except you have a specific goal that requires invisibility, let's say you're another Harry Potter of our time, perhaps you might find the power useful. Like you, I'd pass on that chance.
