Let's Walk Around Maysville Kentucky!!
Hello friends and happy Wednesday Walk!!
A special shoutout to @tattoodjay for supporting the Wednesday Walk tag.
I had been staying at the French Quarter Inn in Maysville, Kentucky. Why, you might ask, would I travel all the way northwest to Maysville Kentucky when I had been doing a series of posts on small towns in Virginia? Well the short answer is that it was a perfect opportunity to meet my daughter that is still living in Michigan. We were both able to drive about five hours and meet up in the small town of Maysville.
So let's walk out to the parking lot where the Army Corps of Engineers erected a large flood wall. Having flooded in the past, the wall is designed to keep out water from the Ohio River that is just on the other side.
What I found interesting were the murals that were painted on the flood wall that depicted the history of the town of Maysville.
I thought the mural was well done with exceptional detail especially considering the massive size of the “canvas”.
Let's hit the streets and see what we can see...
I always think it's cool when the street still has some of the old time bricks. Be sure to notice the heel in the background. That is really an impressive grade.
Oh at the end of this street I see the historic Cox building. Let's get to it, after all we're here to walk.
I visited a dollhouse museum that is in this town. I may not be dad of the year, but I knew my daughter would enjoy it. It honestly was quite impressive and I have so many pictures that it is going to be the subject of a separate post. However, here is a replica of the Cox building in miniature dollhouse form.
You never know what you're going to see when walking around. I certainly never expected to see the oldest bank in Kentucky.
It's nice to know that they are the friendly bank. I think we could use more friendly banks around these days.
Cool looking murals could be found not only on the flood wall, but throughout the town of Maysville.
I think the murals not only provide beautiful colors and an overall happy feeling, they also give the residents pride in their community.
I even found an old timey barber shop pole. You don't see too many of those around anymore these days.
Well thanks for walking around with me. I got to be honest and say all this walking has caused me to work up a sweat. Plus my tummy is telling me it is time for dinner. Guess I'll catch up with you again next week!

Great place and excellent photos, Paul! Maysville, KY looks like a quaint, friendly town and perfect place to spend quality time with your daughter. I can imagine how much you missed her the past months.
How have you been? @old-guy-photos
Oh I have been doing more traveling around than working on my lot as of late. I need to get over there more. I cant wait to post on the dollhouse minitures collection that we toured in Maysville!
How has @ninahaskin been?
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)
I really enjoy it!
thats great sorry I have a lot going on and not commenting as fully as I normally do
What a great little town this is. Old towns have the kind of charm you just can't buy. Plus, you got to see your daughter. You just cannot put a price on that.
The pictures are heartwarming Americana.
Thanks for sharing!
It is fun to get away and I have done several of these short trips as of late. However that is not getting my work done on my lot! I appreciate you stopping by!
Love the shot of the bridge looking out over the water.
I always love the murals on the outside walls of buildings. Even as small as my little town is, there is much of it in the court square.
