Antiquing is the Perfect Way to Spend the Day
For obvious reasons, this cute antique store located in Forest, Virginia used to be called The White Brick House. However currently it is under new management and is called Ashwood Manor Designs.
The store itself is a fascinating building dating all the way back to 1797!!! Of course it sits on beautifully landscaped grounds which offer views of the purple mountains in the background.
The massively thick walls as well as the huge trim pieces, make for a lovely backdrop for the eclectic collection of new and old pieces. Here I added Ben's hand for scale.
There is the basement, the main floor with winding staircase, the upstairs, and the up upstairs where the cupola is.
My daughter proudly has the same unit as this !!!
However I am proud to say that we only paid 50 bucks for it LOL.
In my opinion all the pieces are amazing however some of them do come at a price.
Each and every room has its own feel and its own theme. Some concentrate on newish items, while others seem to emphasize their vintage or antique finds.
The nice thing about having such a wide selection is that there is virtually something for anyone's taste.
Lots of fun, shabby chic items.
A store like this offers limitless combinations. You never know what you might find, perhaps even true love…

I love going through places such as these although I have yet to come across one as large or with as much charm as the elegant, plantation style White Brick House featured in your post. Congratulations on finding the exact gorgeous antique china cabinet for your daughter at a fraction of the cost. Great way to upcycle while adding an heirloom piece to her home! @old-guy-photos
Been meaning to ask, how is the red hibiscus plant doing?🤞

Hi Nina! Thanks for asking. I bought a spray bottle and added a water/dish soap solution which I sprayed on for about a week
That seems to have done the trick. I made sure the solution was soapy enough that it left the leaves slightly sticky. Funny, the leaves seemed to almost like the showers lol.
I pruned the branches back a bit and it is doing ok considering it is winter and getting little light.
