Against All Odds

Hello friends and happy Wednesday Walk!!

A special shoutout to @tattoodjay for supporting the Wednesday Walk tag.

Well friends, we're at a park that has plenty of trails, so what are we waiting for? Let's get walking…

Here are two views of the same scene. Why choose one or the other, when you can go with both.

Whether it is a macro close-up shot or a wide-angle landscape shot, I always find points of interest in both.

Look at this mousetrap!

This footpath that we were walking on leads directly under a classic widowmaker. The weight of an average tree is just enormous. I have been cutting down more than my share of trees lately, and my back is more than happy to vouch for this fact. In addition you can see how the little tree on the right is bent over by the weight it is supporting. If the wind blows the right way or the little tree snaps, you don't want to be anywhere around there. Sadly I know of two people that died cutting trees. They certainly are not to be trifled with.

I found this interesting…

I hate to admit it, but I'm not a good walking partner. You see, I find most things interesting, even the most mundane things. As I happen to like photography, I am apt to stop often and take photographs of damn near everything!

For most of the way, the walking path is bordered by moss, grass, perhaps some wild flowers, leaves, and general debris.

A7_00478.JPG

However here all of a sudden there seems to be a stand of wild lilies.

A7_00479.JPG

Here you can see the line is as clear as day. It is as if someone threw a switch and voila a large plot of wild lilies appeared. I can't wait till I can see them bloom. Soon, I hope, very soon!

Against All Odds

Can you see that black area in the middle of all the shiny glimmers on the water? It kind of looks like a shark fin breaking the surface of the water.

A7_00453.JPG

Thankfully it is not a shark fin, but rather a rock in the middle of the stream.

A7_00454.JPG

And on that rock if you look close enough you will see there is just enough dirt to support a few blades of grass against all odds. I think that is such a sweet picture of the amazing power of life.

That IS really neat that the little sprigs of grass are happily growing on top of the rock.

You'd think the park service would have someone take the widow maker down. Although it looks pretty neat like that, you'd think it could be some sort of liability over the walking path.

Looks like you had a very nice day for a walk.

I thought that too about the park taking that tree down. Maybe it is on someones list to do. I hope so anyways.
