Topic: What if weekend
What if you had to write marriage vows for your own wedding. Tell us, in at least 300 words, what would you write and why?
I decided to go with this option because I actually mentioned this in 2018 when I was about to get married that I would love to write and read my vows without having to follow the template which everyone always chant during weddings. I feel what comes from the heart touches the heart and reading how I feel would make it a lot easier than reading a scripted pamphlet. I actually wrote the vows but a few days to the wedding I noticed they decided against reading our vows ourselves. I just kept it in my pocket and there was even a time I posted it but I can't find it right now.
This is what I wrote or I would have written if I was allowed to write my vows myself:
Dear Popsicle,
I call you my heartbeat because you are the reason why my heart still beat. You are the heart breaking reflection of God's heart for many men and I am glad you chose to do life with me.
What's not to love about you? You are phenomenal... Your heart is golden so are you. You smile brighter than the sun and I love the way you look at me. You are my muse, my cocaine bliss, my illegal high. You are the addiction I always fail to resist. Everything about you is endearing and I feel blessed to know I would always wake up beside you every single night.
I want everything about you because everything shows your uniqueness. I am jealous of the rain because the rain touches you when I want to be the only one. I am jealous of the sun when it shines on you. How dare the sun compete with my love when you obviously shine brighter. I am jealous of how the wind blows and mess up with your hair because I want to be the one to mess up your hair behind closed doors.
You are kind, you are beautiful, you are considerate, you are selfless and you always go the extra length. See how dashing you are looking right now... I just want to be alone in your world while I shut everyone else out.
You are my priority, you are my muse, you are my choice and if I had to choose all over again, I would still choose you but I would make sure I meet you sooner.
I knew I loved you even before I met you. I had a perfect image of who you should be in my mind even before we crossed path and meeting you only validated it and that's how I got to know you are the one for me.
I think about you more times in the day than I think about anything else. You have captured all that I am and I would be lost if I lose you. Thank you for going on this journey with me. Thank you for being who you are. You make it so easy to fall in love with you because of who you are.
On this day, I pledge my allegiance to you. On this day I promise to love you more, honour you more and be with you in sickness and in health. It's a journey of forever and I will be with you every step of the way. I loved you then, I love you now and always would love you. I love you forever and always, whichever comes first.
On this day I am saying I Do and it's a journey of forever with you.
Thank you for your time.
My pen doesn't bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.
Still me,
My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.
Olawalium; (Love's chemical content, in human form). Take a dose today: doctor's order.
I don't understand why they didn't read your votes. They are just perfect.
Thank you so much. Some Churches believe in their protocol. I wished they allowed me read from my heart.
Awwwn, this is such a beautiful piece. I'm feeling like I should fall in love already. Yours is a union blessed by God.
Hahahah fall in love, please. Thank you so much. A big Amen to that.
This is such a beautiful vow to read. Anyone would get swept by these amazing words. I think I like the idea of writing one's vow. I love the idea of it coming from the heart rather than a script that has been given.
I also believe in speaking from the heart because that's what counts. What comes from the heart touches the heart. I love it to be that way. It's sweet and beautiful.
Another beautiful line. I love that idea of reading from your heart. It's easier to remember than some laid down given words.
Absolutely.
Bro, would you believe that I said to myself that this is what bro Ola would choose if he saw this topic not knowing you have even shared it already.
You are creative and I doubt if anyone will prepare your vows better than you. Come to think of it, vows should be our words, it should be about what and how we feel.
This is really cool, I can tell how mom Dara was smiling when you were saying those words.
Hahahaha you know me too well. I had so many options to pick from but I decided to go with this since it's something I can quickly relate with and it's about experience.
Thank you so much my good brother. You are wonderful.
How I wish that some churches allowed you to use your proposed wedding vows you would have done justice with it and leaving the crowd yearning for love 😂😂😂😂 because with you everything is alright.
🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣 everything is alright. Yes, I wish they allow it. I want to hear people pour out their hearts instead.
This is lovely 🌹, definitely from the heart.
