Three Tune Tuesday Week 64 - Lighthouse Family.

It's Tuesday and it's @ablaze's day. He is the brilliant mind behind Three Tune Tuesday (TTT). You won't understand how valuable Tuesdays are now. Apart from the opportunity to be able to post but it's more about appreciation for music. The positive reviews I always get and the interest a lot of people have shown with my song recommendations has encouraged me even more. I love how I've been able to showcase a lot of music to so many people. I've always been able to drag a lot of people back memory lane while some has shown interest in different kind of music than the regular they have been used to. Thank you so much @ablaze for this amazing idea.

I've always been a huge fan of Tunde Bayewu of the Lighthouse Family due to his style of music. His songs are always soulful, deep and we'll thought out. Apart from the fact that he is a Nigerian, I personally admire the way his songs has appealed to a lot of lives across distance. When I heard how the Queen of England personally took interest in his choice of music, I knew I wasn't wrong. This guy is simply phenomenal and I am going to share three amazing songs from the Lighthouse Family.

The first song for today is:

Artist: "Lighthouse Family"
Title of Song: "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free"

A lot of people didn't know that this song is over 20 years. Most people here in Nigeria heard it for the first time when a popular bank decided to use the tune for their advert while changing the wordings to suit their brand. I remember setting a lot of people straight back then by telling them the original owner of the song.

I love this song because it's soulful and speaks of oneness. We have to carry each other, help each other and we might never know what others are going through unless we are in their shoes. The world is hurting and it's time for us to stop wishing and start acting. You can be seated next to a broken soul and you wouldn't know it.

My favourite part of the lyrics:

I wish I could share
All the love that's in my heart
Remove all the bars that keep us apart
And I wish you could know how it is to be me
Then you'd see and agree that every man should be free

I love how he has the heart for everyone to be free so we can have a better world for everyone involved.

The second song for today is:

Artist: "Lighthouse Family"
Title of Song: "Lifted"

Even before I listened to the first track I shared above, this is the first song from Lighthouse Family that I listened to and wow... I love songs that uplifts. I know how challenging life can be, I don't need another song that depresses me. I want songs that speaks to me, that opens my eyes to another perspective and then teaches how to be better for the sake of everyone.

This song is uplifting just as the title of the song implies; "Lifted". The song is uplifting also based on the story behind it. Paul, the co-artist with Tunde said they were coming from their record label then and it was a cold reception they got from them based on the first few tracks they did. Their backs was against the wall and if they don't come up with something classic they won't get a deal. Paul sat down all by himself and it was in January...that was how lifted came to him that he wants to be free of the pain and aches and he wasn't looking forward to the April showers. No doubt, we seem to produce our best the most when our back is against the wall.

My favourite part of the lyrics:

When it all gets dark again
The whole thing falls apart I guess
It doesn't really matter 'bout the rain
'Cause we'll get through it anyway
We'll get up and start again
'Cause we could be lifted, lifted, lifted...

The last song for today is:

Artist: "Lighthouse Family"
Title of Song: "Ocean Drive"

Another classic song by Paul and Tunde. Wow...just wow. If you don't like the first two (which I doubt) you will love everything about this last one. The beat...the words...the feelings the song portrays...they completed the song for me and I am absolutely delighted.

I later gathered that the song is named after the drive from Roker Pier to Ocean Road. I love this song because of how easy it was for them to pick the creativity all around them. Paul Tucker was the instrumentalist and he wrote most of the songs while Tunde Bayewu was the lead vocalist. It hurts me to see that after close to 30 years of being together, Tunde said he wants to pursue his Solo Career and that marks the end of Lighthouse Family. They had to cancel the concert that a lot of people booked and were waiting for, for two years. It pained me to see they are no longer together but I wish both of them the best.

The favourite part of the song for me is this:

When that clouds arrive we'll live on
Ocean Drive (baby)
Don't know why, you're so blue
The sun's gonna shine on everything you do (baby)
And the sky is so blue
The sun's gonna shine on everything you do

Which of these songs is your favourite too and why? Would appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for your time.

What an awesome selection!!! It has been ages since I head the lighthouse family and realised how much I love their songs. They are so great to get you in a good mood but the lyrics also have some depth.

My favourite is Lifted followed closely by Ocean Drive.

Nice work!

Lifted! Por un momento pensé que iba a ser una canción tropical! Jaja esa intro fue muy latina! Luego se puso aún más genial la cosa! 😎🎶✨✨

Such kind and heart felt words my friend and the feeling is mutual - I really look forward to Tuesday and Wednesday evenings when I typically get to take the time to listen to all of the fantastic tunes shared by you guys.
