My Choice.
Whatever you want in life you have to grab with both hands
There are no hands down so you have to work hard for things
We weren't told this is how life would be hahaha
Our parents did so well to hide the stress and the pain
We felt life would always go, yielding to our demands
Now everyone knows that whatever you got for free, someone else paid for it
Even in Freetown things are not free, so you have to work
The grinding never stops, we keep pushing to have a better life
We keep beating the odds and stressing ourselves to stay ahead
Life doesn't come with a manual - we live, make mistakes and learn
Sometimes you have to go the extra miles just so you can earn
I chart my course...I direct my life in the way that I choose
I choose to go the direction that God points me at
I am willing to walk all the length of it and won't stop
Speed is useless when the direction is lacking
Make sure you carve your own path and give it all it takes
I am on the path and it's a choice...it wasn't forced and I will give all it takes

I think about those lines and I recall when I had first tried to learn the guitar. It was the step that involved running my scale. I would practice hard at home and by the next rehearsals when I play what I had practiced, my coach would say 'I love how nicely you move your fingers on the board but you seem to play it so fast that your picks ain't coming out clearly."
I was moving my fingers fast but there was no clarity in what I played. My speed was useless but then I was directed to take it slow, pick carefully, to perfect the art of playing clear notes and the speed would eventually follow.
That's how it works.

Yes, nobody told us this is how life would be but the foundation given to us through our parents would determine how our future will be. Though If it is wrong foundation and we have mature to choose between wrong and right then is now left to us to choose. And if it's good foundation, will still need to choose the kind of life we want. Is just that there would be little stress to achieve our goal when we were been given good foundation.

This is such a well articulated poem. It is quite relatable too.
Personally I'm still in a position where I'm transitioning into adulthood and I can already tell it is not fun or easy. Taking up responsibilities you did not notice as a child.
The other day, I was at church and I couldn't help but look around at all the kids I grew up with.
They are all grown up now, everyone is so consumed with achieving their goals and dreams, which is great.
But it also means that friendships and relationships are going to change, ties are going to be severed and it's sad.
But ultimately, we move! Unless you wanna be left behind.
This was inspiring to read!
Life is about just that, choices. Learning to be aware of them and take responsibility for our choices will help us to be better and grow. With God as a guide and source of inspiration, surely those elections will be fairer or more correct. Excellent dreamer friend.
