Splinterlands | Why Are Reward Cards Soulbound? | What Did I Miss?
Splinterlands | New Rules | New Getting It Straight
So, I have been playing Splinterlands since 2020, and I love the game. I had voluntarily stepped back over the past year since I had a lot of other commitments. I am back now and loving every single bit of it. There is, of course, a lot that has changed, but then those are good changes. I cannot argue with that.
A few of those changes baffle me, though. I mean, why are the reward cards soulbound these days? I haven’t checked all, but I just got a Gold Summoner which isn't listed. I went to check its price, only to realize that those cards are soulbound – meaning I cannot trade them.
Defeats the purpose of trading cards, right?
Brawls I Understand | But Why Reward Cards?
For someone playing since 2020, I started brawling only by 2022. I instantly understood what I missed for those two years. Brawls are good and an instant way of not only making good merit points (and therefore cards) but also getting real gaming friends on Splinterlands. But back in 2020, brawls required us to wait till the exact time to submit our battles. This meant that we had to be awake mid-night for brawling. That was beyond me, so I abandoned it in 2020, only to stay on in 2022.
Now, the brawl cards or those coming from the Gladius packs are also soulbound. For those unaware, soulbound cards are only yours and cannot be traded or exchanged. This kinda makes sense since not all are brawlers, and therefore, not all get those enigmatic cards that only the brawlers can have. Kinda builds exclusivity and also encourages non-brawlers to go and participate. This I get.
But why reward cards? What’s exclusive about the reward cards being soulbound? Aren’t the total population of Splinterlands gamers supposed to participate in everyday quests? Not participating is their choice but the least anyone could do to earn cards or other paraphernalia is to participate in the daily quest. It is as basic as it could be. If that is so, why are reward cards coming out soulbound? It shouldn’t be.
Please somebody explain why.
I Have Been Off For Sometime | Maybe I Missed The Reason | What Is It Though?
As I confessed in the beginning, I had been off for nearly a year so I could have missed some updates on the reward cards. But still, if there is a valid reason too, I personally believe that we should be allowing reward cards to be traded. Just to give you an example, I got a Gold foil summoner in the reward cards, Lobb Lowlands but it has no value nor can be traded or shared. What’s the point of such cards?
Anyway, that’s about my intrigue for today. I am still not sure if the soulbound thingy is only for rewards summoners or every reward card. I am not even going to check, but something needs to be done about it.
Hope the powers that may be, to-be, or may-be-to-be, do something about it. And no, I am not spending 100,000 DECs and going to put up a proposal.
Scoot!
P.S. – Please do explain why the reward cards are soulbound. Please! 😊
Despite all that I wrote above, you better know what Splinterlands is all about. Cause I can have concerns but I cannot not like it. 😉
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too.
