Splinterlands | My Opponent and I Have The Same Team | Almost
Splinterlands | Mirror Image
Since Splinterlands is such a big game, some fantastic permutations and combinations sometimes present themselves. Here is one time that I had an almost identical team to mine. It was funny that my opponent and I could have been thinking along the same lines as far as the battle was concerned.
See the eerie resemblance? One of the things that I learned playing Splinterlands is that you can never go into a battle with just one type of attack. It may not work effectively. And that learning helped me to have at least one ranged attacker in my lineup. Did it help?
Let's find out. But before that, how about knowing a bit more about Splinterlands? What if the game interests you? Wouldn't you want to know where to go and find the game? So, let's go.
What Game is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital card game that allows you to collect, trade, battle, rent, and even earn from the cards. The game gives Play to Earn a whole different meaning. By now, you would know that the governance token (SPS) airdrop made millionaires out of the early adopters. It still keeps giving and remains a fun and engaging game.
To give you an idea of how lucky you can get in Splinterlands, read my story of getting cards worth $500 from buying only a few packs worth $20.
Got Cards Worth $500 from $20 Packs
And this is just a tiny number. I have witnessed people getting uber-expensive cards in their pack and selling it for as high as $6500. In fact, there is a whole Splinterlands marketplace on the Hive blockchain and now on Wax too.

Battle With The Doppelganger
It is not the first time I have encountered an almost identical team. This one has nearly the same monsters as mine but in different positions. I anticipated it right that the opponent would use a magic attack and hence the anti-magic summoner of mine. How cool was that!
I have seen identical teams from multiple opponents while playing the game earlier. I had written about them too. This one was different and worth talking about. How many of us would see our team's mirror image, after all?
Anyway, now we jump on to the battle.
Face Off With My Opponent!
This is how my opening screen appeared.
The opponent's team is at the bottom of the screen, while mine is at the top. The opponent has used Alric Stormbringer to strengthen his/her all magic attack monsters. Baakjira is the tank used by both of us.
However, I had used Bortus as the summoner, thereby reducing the ability of the opponent's magic attack monsters. Bortus neutralized the Alric and therefore made my Baakjira more potent than the opponent's. After all, the Baakjira has the void ability and also reduces the magic attacks. So, yes, it seems to be a good strategy for me. 😊
The Battle Rages
The opponent's Alric was level 6, which worried me a bit. If the monsters are high level, too, they can inflict extensive damage, not to mention the additional abilities.
But the opening seemed fine. The opponent's monsters at positions 5 and 6 had just one attack value and therefore were not making a dent on my Baakjira. However, the opponent's Baakjira was done by the beginning of round 2.
My idea to go with the ranged attacker in the sixth position was sound. In hindsight, it was one of the biggest attackers on the opponent's Baakjira, and I am glad I got it in.
And then Victory!
The presence of my Baakjira was beneficial as my attacks were going through while the opponent's monsters were starting to fall.
My Baakjira was still standing my round 3 but just about. Another attack, and it was done. But the opponent had lost more – not only the Baakjira but also the Djinn Oshannus. And then it was smooth sailing with no more void monsters in the opponent's kitty.
By round 5, the victory was mine. I had lost only the Baakjira while all my monsters were still standing. I reiterate that going with just one type of attack is not a good idea at all. Just two of my void monsters and my summoner were good enough to stop my opponent. That is the reason to have a variety in attacks.
Anyway, I won! 😊
So, That's It | Anti–Magic destroyed My Doppelganger!
So, you see, my monsters munched on my opponent. Of course, if you think about it, even I was concentrated on magic with the hope that I could neutralize a magic attacker. The outcome could have been different if it had been an attacker like Tarsa or General Sloan. It would still depend on the opponent's choice of monsters, but my summoner and the Baakjira's void ability may not have been that effective. Either way, have multiple attack types in your battles.
I won this battle which was quite peculiar because of the choice of monsters on both sides. I hope you enjoyed reading about my experience in the game. 😊
