Reaching the goal

As always, it is a pleasure to be able to greet you again on the occasion of sharing a new post with you., I have the privilege of teaching a course at the Church I attend, to date I have been doing it for three months and yesterday was the last day. Yes, it's over because all the topics have been covered but I want to share my experiences and reflections during the event...

Starting with a goal is something easy to do, the hard thing is to stay until the end, especially when obstacles appear that try to discourage us. I remember when I started my studies at the university, I chose one of the most difficult careers and 120 students entered with me, after time passed when the time for graduation came, I remember that of all of us who entered together only 5 managed to reach the goal .

So determination, perseverance, effort and optimism are needed. The more difficult the goal, you will need more of those things that I have mentioned, otherwise the current of discouragement will drag you to failure.

It was not the exception in this course, those who are finishing are not all who started but I know that those who have finished showed love and passion for the course which makes me feel proud of them.

I know I'm not an easy teacher to get along with, it's like that because once my students think they know something I try to confront them with arguments that can be confusing to see how sure they are of what they think they know. Is it necessary? I think that the more they defend an argument, the more difficult it will be for them to forget what they have learned. In addition, we will always find people who really take on that role and we must be prepared to persuade them with love and subtlety without being moved by what we have learned.

In other words, once they know something I show them all the arguments that could try to refute that knowledge and the ways in which they are not valid arguments, that way I think they prepare more although some find it uncomfortable that they try to confuse them but I It serves to diagnose where they have weaknesses in order to turn them into strengths.

At one point I thought that maybe it was too much for some who dropped out, but then I noticed that some only went to the first class and then no more. It's not a big deal, out of 18, 5 dropped out, so a good majority have remained.

The first songs were the most difficult to carry (at least from my point of view) because they were loaded with many historical dates and names that were difficult to memorize. Aware of this, I tried to be as flexible as possible.

The following topics were already common knowledge, things that we always hear in preaching and read in the scriptures, many of which are the foundation of our faith, so more than being the one who gave the classes, we organized exhibitions, it was not to evaluate their knowledge and fail them for what they did not know but to evaluate where they were weak and strengthen their knowledge by clarifying their doubts, in fact in this course the only way to fail is to abandon the course.

The method of group presentations provided better results because it was a tool for the students to strengthen their friendship ties, in addition, since they were the ones who took the reins of the subject, the commitment to master it increased and an atmosphere of belonging could be noticed in the cluster.

After all, it has been 3 months of good experiences, of sharing, of effort and perseverance. We couldn't finish without a celebration after so much effort, so the boys organized a farewell share.

Everyone contributed something and bought things for a small snack at the end of the presentations, which in turn represented the end of the DEM (Disciples In Ministries, which is the name of the course).
