Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learners' featured post. Everyone makes use of the social media platforms, though some people find it difficult to stay consistent with the platforms. There are some that have made it a habit and cannot let a day pass by without going online on these platforms.

I have a friend who whenever we don't see him online, then it's a must to check up on him. He must definitely be sick or must have been kidnapped. No matter how tight his schedule is, he must come online to see what's happening and reply to messages. He is one social media freak I know.

While growing up, I was like this friend of mine. Facebook was my home as well, until we all started seeing things differently and I cut off social media. I chatted a lot. Back then I had a lot of people I called friends and they were always online as well. I never got bored chatting. There was a lot to talk about; football, and most of all, the girl that rejected my friend or me.

We can keep the conversation going for 24 hours straight, and we even started a Facebook page back then.It was fun indeed, and writing this post just made me remember all the memories and wish things had not gone the way they did.

Being on social media affected me both negatively and positively. In subsequent paragraphs, I will be sharing with you one negative and one positive effect of social media on my life.

Chatting Had A Positive Effect On Me.

Chatting did play a role in helping me build my typing speed. I first started chatting with a desktop. Knowing where the keys were on a desktop was quite difficult and this made my typing very slow. I took my time looking for the keys before sending, and this got a lot of people angry. They complained I was killing the vibe, but I couldn't help it.

As time went on, I became a pro. I know where to locate every key. It built my typing speed, and now I don't spend much time typing.

Chatting Has A Negative Effect.

Even though chatting helped a lot, it caused me harm as well. I got addicted to chatting. Everything I cook is going to burn because I got carried away while chatting.

Sometimes I'm like, I just want to check my notifications and reply to a few messages. I won't even know when two hours have passed and I must have been given a task that needed to be carried out. I started having issues with my parents on a regular basis.

Thanks for reading my post.

I was also a social media addict (Facebook) addict back then. I can go hours chatting with friends without sleeping. Although it was fun, it still had negative effects.

Thanks for sharing.

I became a Facebook addict back then, I don't have time for my books or anything else.

Stay awake all night and sleep during Morning devotions 😂. Facebook did me dirty.

I also have a best friend who lives in Facebook just to read stories 🤣🤣🤣. Social media platform is what it is depending on how we use it. Thanks @offia66 for sharing

Social Media indeed depends on how we use it. Some make good use of it while some persons are affected negatively.

Like they will always say that everything that has a good side, has it's own bad side. Chatting has it bad side only when we become too addicted to it that we can't do any other thing aside chatting.

Chatting is good but getting addicted to it makes it really bad.

Getting addicted to chatting is just so easy, we might not even know it. But trying to break it will be tough. But you made it work. Good job!
Thank you for sharing this with us.
