Spending Christmas with family and friends means everything.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. It's the festive season and the talk of the town; everywhere you go, you either hear people talk about their plans for Christmas or are making preparations for Christmas. That time of the year where we eat and merry, different delicacies are prepared today, and in my neighborhood today, everyone keeps their doors open.

Even strangers can visit your house and get entertained like you knew them from Adam. As a kid, I looked forward to this time of the year because of new clothes and shoes, but now I just want to spend it with my family and create more memories that will live on forever. It's the season of love; the aroma alone says it all. I have not been able to breathe in without taking in a sweet-scented aroma as well. All these I would have missed if I stayed back in school.

I have done quite a few things these past few days. A little hangout with friends and classmates, like I planned, took place on Friday evening. We were out until nightfall, and we had a lot of fun that evening. Getting to meet old friends and some reminding you how you cried one time in school after being flogged was kind of humiliating, but everything was said to keep the atmosphere lively. But one thing I have done in this festive season that means the world to me is travel home to join my family; celebrating Christmas with them means everything. Seeing the smiles on the faces of my parents means the world to me. As a kid, I always underrated spending Christmas as one big family with everyone alive and in good health, but now I see things differently.

No Christmas gift is more important than having a complete family to spend it with. We might not have it all, but we are comfortable and happy. Seeing each other and knowing that tomorrow holds better gives us hope. A complete family for Christmas from year to year is what we have experienced for years and is an underrated blessing, but it does mean a lot.

Traveling back home was not easy due to how the price of transportation skyrocketed, and the experience on the road was not pleasant either. The military men were everywhere on the road, taxing drivers and delaying movements. Imagine having to stop after every one or two kilometers to do the military men's bidding, or they will waste your time even more. Despite the delay, we arrived safely and are enjoying the holiday already.

I spent Christmas away from home once, and it was one of the most boring Christmases of my life. Since then, I try to go home for every Christmas celebration or try to join my family anywhere they are for every holiday season. Today, my siblings and I are planning our first outing for the holiday. We will be visiting the new crunchies today. Spending Christmas with them can be demanding, but that does not stop it from being fun. More memories to reminisce on until another Christmas comes knocking.
