Should there be a limit to how much a person can earn?

Hello, everyone.

Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners' featured post. This topic is quite an interesting one. I know there are people out there who would like a limit to be put on how much one can actually earn so that everyone on the surface of the earth might become equal. With a limit, you just know that no matter what, you can actually catch up. At least you know once an individual gets to that set limit, you can actually work to catch up with them, but no, from the very beginning, we were not meant to be equals; we must have people we are greater than, people greater than us, and people greater than them too.

A friend of mine was telling me how much he saw in a friend's bank account the other day that made him even question his very existence. Well, l I understand that feeling because scrolling through the hive platform, you get to see people earn what you earn in a year, but they earn it in a week. According to him, "I saw an account balance that looked like an account number, while I am just here surviving on thousands." The only thing that makes us equals is the law, but when it comes to earnings, equality cannot exist.

The world is filled with people of different hierarchies; some people are jealous and envious of people in a higher hierarchy than them. We might all have equal rights as humans, but our earning is what puts each and every one of us in a level or hierarchy. We have people who can decide not to work again for the rest of their lives and still have food to eat and everything they need in abundance, and we still have people whose failure to work for a day simply means they will have nothing to eat. We also have people who it will take a month of not working for them to go broke, so not working and how long it takes one to go broke completely depends on how much they are earning.

A system where a limit is put on how much a person can earn will really not favor the politicians and the system of my country, where those in power embezzle everything for them, their families, and their generations to come while the masses suffer. When a limit is put on how much one can earn, they will not be able to accumulate and gather all the money for themselves like they want to, which will make them not support such a motive. Even the masses will not support such a thing because if they too were in a position to make a lot, and with that limit in place, then they will not be able to gather as much as they want to or dream of.

For me, people should be allowed to earn as much as they want to or as much as they can. The world has always been like that, with a limit on how much one can earn. We actually limit development as well as job opportunities. Picture a scenario where an investor or company owner gets to the set limit, which simply means he cannot expand more or do more, which brings about development and job opportunities. Limiting how much one should earn is limiting our progress as humans as well as the development of our immediate environment and the world at large.

There really is inequality everywhere, even at Hive. Where whales make a half-assed post and quickly receive in one post what we earn in a month. Life is very fair! hehehe!

Exactly, inequality cannot be pushed out of the picture it has come to stay. Thanks for stopping by.
