First Time To Put Food On My Table.

Greetings Everyone.

Great Hivers, welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learners featured post. Today i will be sharing the story about the first time I made money on my own, after my first earning I came to realize why the prodigal son ran back home.

Surviving and catering for all your needs comes with loads of stress, thinking and plenty of work. Everyday we pray for more sources of income, we all try to diversify our source of income because that's the only way to keep our heads afloat.

Story Of My First Time To Earn.

We go way back to 2017 after I graduated from high school, my parents were very strict and declined my request of getting me a phone after the old one was stolen, they said because I was preparing to seat for jamb exams in 2018, they take education so serious and won't want anything to distract me, so they believe getting me a new phone was going to be a major distraction.

I pleaded with them to let me work since they won't attend to my needs, my mom agreed but dad declined 😩 due to the nature of his work, he had to travel the following week and I was left with no other choice than to convince my mom the more, making a whole lot of false promises 😂 and she finally agreed to let me get something doing.

I wrote application letters to over three schools and non of the schools gave me a positive response, a friend of mine was working in a construction company as an unskilled labourer, I called him and asked if he could find me a spot and he said that is not a problem, I came and told my mom I wanted to follow my friend to where he works and she immediately said no but after lots of pleading she accepted.

First day at the construction site was hell, I worked with a mason man, for the first time in my life I mixed cement, whenever he needs cement I am the one to provide him with everything he needs to carry out his work, I was more like his boy, we closed by 5:00PM and I was paid 3000 naira (equivalent to 9.4 hive, equivalent to 7.2 dollars.). That was my first time to ever do something for myself, I came home and bought Coca-Cola for my mom and siblings.
