The tragedy that stroke the expectant family.

As the sun rose on the horizon, it became clear what had happened, and the newborn baby was found dead beside his mother.

It all started 41 weeks ago after the fertilization of the ovum and formation of the zygote, the embryo was carried for 39 weeks, with Mrs Esther frequently attending antenatal clinics at appointed time for regular check ups.

Everything was clean and there was no sign of any abnormality throughout the period of pregnancy. Proteinuria was nil, as well as glucouria.

The family was happy, the husband was feeling like a man and also scared at the same time because this is the first baby and he is about to be a father.

Mrs Esther's mother was already in the house, ready to assist her daughter in her recovery after labour and the stress that comes afterwards.

Everything went as planned and the day of labour came.
Everyone was worried, both her husband and mother and all decided to pray. Her mother was with her all through the stages of labour and with the aid of her daughters husband, provided all that was needed for the labour. Mrs Esther successfully passed through all stages of labour and she was delivered of a bouncing baby boy.

The good news of the delivery got to the man of the house and this news changed the tensed atmosphere to a very joy filled one.

He immediately requested to see his wife and they all praised the name of the Lord for a successful delivery.

After the after some hours of the midwives observation of Mrs Esther, it was decided that she was in a stable condition and could be discharged which was done in a blink of an eye.

The news of the delivery went far and wide, however, in getting home, friends were already waiting in their house for their arrival.

The new baby was celebrated by everyone and the just-made father decided to show his cooking skills to the family and friends by making dinner. His cooking skills was top notch as it was hailed by everyone present in the room.

Bed time came and everyone retired to their bed, making sure that the baby is properly secured close to the mother to improve mother-child bonding. After suckling, the baby went to sleep as well as his mother.

The next morning, the cock crowed and the sun rose. Immediately, Mrs Esther woke up to check her baby only to find out that her baby is not moving again neither is he breathing. She immediately called her husband and mother with tears in her eyes and showed them what she is seeing.

The baby was immediately rushed to the hospital but the sad news was broke to them. The doctor reported that the baby was brought dead on arrival and it broke the heart of everyone.

The father being a pastor, made a cried out and made a prayer, thanking the creator for giving and taking the gift. He also held his wife so she would not do anything to her self as a result of grief and reminded her that the creator works in ways best known to him.

It was discovered that the cause of death was was due to asphyxiation. Mrs Esther mistakenly layed down on her baby due to excess exhaustion while sleeping.

It broke her heart the more to learn of this but her husband and mother was there to calm her down and remind her that The Almighty works in mysterious ways.

This is my first time to ever write a story, however this is a fictional story formulated by me. Babies have died due to some unintentional acts of the parents. However, I made this fictional story to remind everyone that babies are very delicate and utmost care should be taken while handling them.. also, we can save a baby by providing a baby's cot, and also, gently rubbing their back in a up and down movement to prevent asphyxiation and aspiration.
