THE BEGINING OF A GREAT JOURNEY: A NEWCOMER'S INTRODUCTION
I am an indigene of Osun State, Nigeria, but I was born and currently reside in Lagos. From a young age, I’ve had a deep connection with nature, which was only amplified by my surroundings.
My hobbies include singing, impactful learning, and problem-solving—activities that have shaped my perspective on life and nature. I am a proud graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in Ogun State, where I earned my degree in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management (B.forestry). My academic background has equipped me with a profound understanding of the environment and a passion for preserving the natural world.
On August 5, 2023, I embarked on a new journey by creating Nature VerseNG. The idea behind this platform stemmed from my desire to educate, inspire, and showcase the breathtaking landscapes, wildlife, and forest products that Africa, and Nigeria in particular, have to offer. The spark that ignited this journey was a simple post I made on my WhatsApp status about the existence of elephants in Nigeria. To my surprise, many of my friends and contacts were skeptical, insisting that such magnificent creatures could not be found in our country. This widespread misconception made me realize how little is known about the incredible wildlife that exists right in our backyard.
Elephants do exist in Nigeria, along with other wild animals that many people only see on their TV screens. It’s a fascinating and somewhat ironic reality that a country like ours, which is home to such majestic creatures, is also one of the highest sellers of ivory in Africa. How did we get here? This is a question I plan to explore in future blog posts, where I will delve deeper into the existence of these animals and the challenges they face.
I was introduced to Hive by @hemmykies and @d-honeyb I am so grateful and excited that they shared the opportunity with me, and what attracted me to Hive was its strong sense of community and the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share a love for nature and conservation. Moreover, Hive’s decentralized nature allows for greater freedom of expression and ownership over content, which aligns perfectly with my values as a creator.
This blog is dedicated to showcasing the incredible beauty of nature, with a special focus on the landscapes, wildlife, and natural wonders of Africa and Nigeria. Each post will take you on a journey to explore hidden gems, unknown facts, and awe-inspiring views that capture the essence of the natural world. From the majestic mountains of Nigeria to the vast savannas teeming with wildlife, I will be your guide in uncovering the richness and diversity of our environment.
I would be sharing stunning visuals and stories, I’ll be diving into the importance of conservation and sustainable living. I believe that by raising awareness and fostering a deeper connection with nature, we can inspire others to take action to preserve our planet for future generations. Whether you’re a seasoned nature enthusiast or just beginning to explore the wonders of the outdoors, this blog will offer something for everyone.
As I embark on this journey, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the stories, experiences, and connections that lie ahead. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for nature with you, and I look forward to the adventures we will have together. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us.
Stay tuned for my first exploration post coming soon, I promise it’ll be very educative, insightful and a visual treat!
