Gorgeous Vacation Spot in Lompoc, California
A Four Day Vacation
We just got home from a lovely trip to Lompoc and Solvang California. I have lots of pictures from both places, but for now I just wanted to share a few photos of the Airbnb that we stayed at while there.
@afturner found this place on the website and showed it to me weeks ago, but I usually just glaze over and agree with whatever she finds because I hate looking at 50 different places to stay. I mostly just looked at the pictures inside so I had no idea that this place was so incredible. In fact, I thought that she had gotten a house in a neighborhood in town.
I had no idea that we were on a private estate on acres of land out in the middle of this beautiful scene from a Disney movie.
This place goes on forever too! We were there for 2 days before I realized that the land just went on and on for acres. There was even a whole hidden dirt road that went around the property back to a quiet area where there were some horses behind a fence. I believe the horses belonged to the neighbor, though, being that no one would have been there to take care of them otherwise.
We never got around to using it, but there was a cool little fire pit with plenty of wood available. There was a lot of places to explore and relax around here, but 4 days was not enough time since we were here to do the whole Solvang tour. Amanda has been here several times before, but it was the first time for me.
She kept going on and on about how incredibly green everything was compared to the last time she was here in around 2005. I think we've had more rain this year than in a century. In fact, it has rained so much that for the first time satellites have picked up huge patches of yellow across southern California from all of the flowers. This is something that hasn't ever been see from above since the tech didn't exist the last time it rained this much.
I spent quite a lot of time just standing out in front of the house staring out over the hills and trees. To be sure, I liked being here more than any of the other places that we visited on the trip. I would absolutely go back just to stay in this house and hang out.
The truth of the matter is, you need to being several people with you so that you can split the cost. We had a pretty good sized group so it ended up not being too bad at all.
@little-ricky had an absolute blast on this trip. He went outside and just ran for what seemed like hours. I got quite a workout trying to keep up with him. I mostly was trying to keep an eye on him because there were apparently a lot of snakes around. There were snake holes every other step!
This horse walked along side of me as I strolled along the perimeter of the property on a well worn dirt road. I think it was just wanting me to pass it over some of the weeds and grasses that were plentiful on my side of the fence. They had made quick work of all the plant life on their side.
This was one of the most relaxing and much needed vacations that I have ever had. I would highly recommend a trip up to Lompoc, especially if you live in California. A lot of people like to go to Solvang for the wine tasting and the Danish style look and feel. There are a lot of nice restaurants and pastry shops around. Go check it out!
Place looks pretty amazing man. Happy to know you got to have a relaxing vacation with the family.
Yeah dude, it was sooo awesome. I can't even tell you. We are so going to rent this place again. I needed the break really badly too.
:) ooh Solvang.. I been there a few times. the toy soldier store is so cool!
Ah, I think we walked by that place. There were a lot of shops that we didn't go into because Amanda was obsessed with trying to find a perfect Pinot wine. haha!
Haha you sound like me. I hate choices, so I just usually agree with whatever place my wife picks for vacations.
Hmm.. your mention of the rain is interesting. I'm sure you know more than me on this, but isn't there a superflood that reoccured in California something like every 250 years? If it's coming again, hope the state is prepared.
Anyway, lovely photos. It looks like a really nice place!
Yeah, I keep hearing about an impending megaflood but they say no one knows when it will come. I will have to read up on it. I don't really know much about it, other than what I heard someone say on the news a while back. I mean, if it is a bad thing then I can't tell because it has never looked nicer around here!
It's a good thing you enjoyed your vacation with your family, now Ricky wants you to be fit, so he made sure you had to keep up with him all the time, hehe.
The place looks really beautiful too and I've missed reading from you, felt happy when I saw this post from you and I am glad you're happy and safe.
#Best Regards.
I think Ricky is trying to turn me into an athlete at this point. I am going to have to start weightlifting soon, otherwise I won't be able to deal with him as he gets bigger.
Thanks for coming by! :)

This looks like a beautiful place. My wife's family rents a place every year or so. It's sixteen of us, so we always need a lot of space. California might be a bit too far for us to travel... 😃 I can't wait to see the rest of your pictures from the trip.
Oh wow, that sounds like a lot of fun getting the whole family together like that. I miss that with my Dayton cousins/aunts/uncles etc. when we were all kids. Used to go camping up at lake Loramie in Ohio. Those were the good ole days.
Sounds like it was a fun time. I remember several years ago now we rented what I called a "compound" up in Northern Michigan and all of my wife's family came. So like 60 of us. It was almost like a mini hotel. I think it was actually a corporate retreat style building. I am going to check out Lake Loramie in case we haul the trailer down that way one day.
Wow! 60 people. That's wild.
I haven't camped down at Loramie since the 80s, but my dad still goes down there all the time with his camper and stays for a while. He likes to take his boat out. I think he likes to camp at Indian Lake as well.
I will definitely have to check those out. My wife and I want to start doing some traveling out of the state with our trailer. Using that as way point might be a good option.
Looks like there is a disc golf course at Lake Loramie too!
Laughs, yeah we have horses here on the farm and they eat 8 times more than a cow.... They eat 20 hours of the 24 we have in a day 😂 no jokes...
It really is a beautiful place, the last three years we've gotten a lot of rain ourselves after being in a drought for what seemed like 10 years!
Just gazing out over the hills.... Man that is some soul touching shit to do... A man can get lost like that.... The peace.. The serenity!
Glad you had a blast bud!

Yeah, honestly I could have stayed a lot longer and just vegged out. I haven't been able to just sit and gaze out at the horizon like that for years. It was almost a 'spiritual' experience.
But it sounds like you know all about it living on a farm.. haha! I do miss living in the country sometimes, but I also like the city. I wish I could afford a nice house in the country that was really close to the city.

wow what a beautiful place it looks so relaxing with so much nature around, it seems like a dream...
I was also surprised by how green everything looks, when you see the photos you can see the green all the way to the horizon and that is very nice, it really is a good place to disconnect from city life, I am very happy that you have been able to enjoy a well-deserved vacation in such a relaxing place.
Thanks man! you are right, it was like a dream. The view is hard to capture in photos. It seemed almost fake, like nothing could be so 'picturesque'.
I could live there forever !
You and me both...
Looks like such a peaceful place. Have fun man.
It was a really great trip! Incredibly peaceful. Thanks!
Seems to be a nice place for spending vacations. Thats far away from Asia. Too much money needed to reach there. Hopefully one day......😍.
Bro you need to be careful. Take care of little ricky.
There are many places in Asia that I would love to visit, perhaps one day as well! I certainly will watch out for the snakes. Ricky has no fear of anything yet.

Whenever there is a vacation, one must go with family like this because then one sees such a beautiful place and spends time with one's family, then the time will pass very well and one's mind will also get a lot of peace.
It is a great way to unwind, especially when you live in a place that is mostly concrete. Thank you for your comments!
Most welcome.
That place looks absolutely gorgeous bro! Look how big your child is getting! Wow, time flies, doesn't it?
It was amazing, man. I couldn't believe it when we arrived.
Yes! He has grown so much. He is an absolute monkey too.. Climbs everything and into every possible nook and cranny. Never a dull moment with this one.
