Sticky Rice Wrap With Jackfruit Gravy
Today, I came home to a family gathering at our house. Well my mother asked to prepare some dishes for the family. By utilizing the ingredients in the refrigerator, I prepared a dessert of jackfruit. That is sticky jackfruit or often known in our local language bumpet.
Jackfruit Gravy Bumpet
Bumpet is processed sticky rice wrapped in young banana leaves then enjoyed with coconut milk sauce cooked with pieces of jackfruit. Well besides jackfruit you can also replace it with ripe bananas.
Although slightly different from the original recipe, this processed cake is no less delicious than the original recipe. You need to know that usually the original recipe of processed bumphet glutinous rice with banana leaves is directly cooked with coconut milk together. However, because my family doesn't like the texture of sticky rice wrapped directly in coconut milk, my mother always suggested this method.
I'll show you the step-by-step preparation of this dessert below!
Ingredients Needed
Enough banana leaves
600 ml coconut milk
3 pandan leaves
200 grams jackfruit
50 grams of sugar
1 spoon of salt
Cooking Procedure
Preparation Of Glutinous Rice Bundle
Prepare glutinous rice that has been soaked with water for about 20 minutes, then add it to the cooking pan.
Then add 100 ml of coconut milk, then add 2 pandan leaves and stir until evenly distributed.
Then add 1 teaspoon of salt and a little sugar is optional.
Cook until the coconut milk is dry, or the sticky rice is no longer mushy.
Let the glutinous rice cool, then take a triangular banana leaf and put a spoon of glutinous rice.
Wrap it with a banana leaf cover key, don't forget to compact the dough in the leaf so that the results are more beautiful later.
Do it until all the dough runs out, then steam the glutinous rice bundle until cooked for about 20 minutes.
Preparation of jackfruit Coconut Milk Sauce
Prepare 500 ml thick coconut milk, then add with sugar and salt.
Cut the jackfruit according to your taste, it can be smaller than what you want, here I cut it bigger so that it is delicious.
Add pandan leave and then stir the coconut milk evenly so that it does not break,
Wait milk coconut until it boils and then add the jackfruit.
Cook until cooked or until boiling then turn off the stove and serve.
Serving Suggestion
Serve the sticky rice wrap bundle by opening the banana leaf skin and placing it on a serving plate. Then add the jackfruit coconut milk sauce on top. Wrapped in banana leaves, the sticky rice has a soft texture, and the aroma of banana leaves really makes the dense sticky rice more delicious. The addition of salt is appropriate and the sticky rice flavor is just right, not tasteless at all.
It's very soft, combined with the savory and sweet coconut milk sauce and the deliciousness of the jackfruit which makes it fresher. My favorite thing is the fragrant aroma of jackfruit. I love the aroma of jackfruit because it makes the jackfruit sauce even more delicious.

The banana leaf, the rice, and jackfruit all ingredients that we find in India. the way you have made the leaf hold the entire batter together is also something that we do in India. I am absolutely amazed with the similarities we have with our food, though I have never tried jackfruit with rice wrap. It seems quite intriguing to try something so unique and can never say no to a desert.🤤
