Pickled Young Papaya with Peanut Seasoning

The of young papaya are always underestimated if it is not ripe, right? Who would have thought that young papaya is very tasty to be processed into food as a home side dish and even often used as another hunger delay food.



In the area where I live, young papaya is a vegetable that is almost always present in a cooked mixed vegetable dish. In addition to its good taste, the texture is also very good if processed according to what you need.




Pickled Young Papaya

This recipe is inspired by one of the regions in my country, where they make pickled young papaya as a delicious dish. By mixing seasonings in the form of fried peanut onions and other spices. Interestingly they also use vinegar in this dish so that the taste becomes more delicious and better pickles. Yeah I love pickles that have this kind of flavor variant, the onion bean mixture becomes a very distinctive flavor.

Although very simple, making these pickles requires a long process to get good and delicious pickles.




Ingredients

½ young papaya fruit
50 grams of peanuts
2 cloves of garlic
1 tomato
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 cloves of shallots
Ground pepper to taste




Cooking Procedure


Prepare Papaya


Step 1


Clean the skin of the papaya then cut the papaya into pieces.

Step 2


Then grate the young papaya using a coarse grater. Well try not to be too fine so that later the papaya has more flavor.

Next, add a tablespoon of salt to stir until evenly distributed in the grated papaya. Squeeze the salt until it releases the water in the papaya flesh.

Then I wash the papaya so that the papaya is not too salty later. Then squeeze the papaya to make sure there is no more water.

Next, steam the papaya until it is tender for about 7 to 10 minutes.

Seasoning Preparation


Step 1


Now after preparing the papaya until it is ripe I start preparing the seasoning stir later, prepare peanuts and garlic then roast until brownish yellow.

Step 2


Cut the tomatoes into small cubes, then cut the shallots then fry the onions until brownish yellow.

Step 3


After roasting the peanuts and garlic, grind them roughly or according to your own taste.

Step 4


Next, season with half a teaspoon of salt and enough ground pepper, and Add the fried onions.

Step 5


Add tomatoes, then add the vinegar, For vinegar, you can also replace it with lemon juice according to the dosage or according to your taste level of acidity.

Step 6


Finally apply the young mango that has been steamed earlier with the seasoning stirring until evenly distributed.

Pickled young papaya is ready to be served on your plate, serve it at leisure or as a complementary menu during lunch with your family. I think this is one of the more unexpectedly delicious vegan dishes. Yeah I just found this young pickled papaya for the first time. And yeah this is indeed a good pickle after pickled cucumber. I like the texture after steaming the young papaya becomes lighter and softer, which of course when enjoyed there is a texture that is very similar to cucumber.
