There is a special occasion during celebrations or even during calamities in my area. That is to remember the year of the death of the most beloved person in the family, my only brother. This event is always remembered every year, and now he has entered the third year after his death after the car accident at that time. It's tragic but that's the life of every living soul. Sadness, longing are all mixed up when this event takes place but everything has already happened and this third year I am very sincere if he is gone. The event was very solemn, with the event praying together and eating together that Kemi had prepared with various delicious dishes. and I'm sure praying for him here will make him better in another world there.

There were special dishes served during the event, all served in small serving plates then arranged in a large round tray neatly. The talam is arranged in layers of various types of dishes from fish, meat, shrimp, soup, pergedel to crackers. The various types of food are deliberately prepared to welcome invited guests who will pray for the deceased in another world. This is a belief in our religion that has existed since ancient times. Now every year we usually call religious leaders to pray for the deceased who have passed away.

The event was held in the evening, I started to get busy in the morning preparing food from various processed meats, shrimps and even fish. I also prepare my local specialty of timpan cake. Preparing everything takes a lot of time I was in the kitchen from morning to evening. Yeah I'm very tired of cooking big for an event like this. But I was helped by my family so that everything felt less heavy alone in the kitchen.

When it was getting late I started to put all the dishes on serving plates, and arranged them in a large tray. As well as adding a portion of rice in the dinner plate.

Yeah here, the dishes are always served with white rice because in my country rice is a staple food that must exist. Ignore the photo of me taking care of things at home and it was taken by accident. Haha

Various types of food have been served, and most importantly this dish is a typical dish of our region, there are various types of white cooking, stir-fried tuna, fried chicken pergedel, pickles, gulai ayam kampung, shrimp sambal to simple vegetable soup.

e also have a habit of preparing emping melinjo crackers, these crackers are a must-have during festive occasions like this. I don't know why this cracker is a complementary dish.

When the event started I forgot to take pictures of the guests arriving I was so busy at that time that everything felt so fast, and finally the event after praying there was a cake treat for guests but again and again I forgot to take pictures maybe on another occasion I will share it with you.

I'm so glad the guests liked the food, they all ate it with gusto even though there were a few leftovers. But that didn't make me sad and we wrapped it up for the neighbors to take home. This tradition is indeed an interesting thing in our lives here in establishing good relationships among our neighbors like family at times like this.

Well today's event is over, may my late brother be placed in heaven. It's great to be able to pass this well, and I've been more sincere in this third year although it can't be denied that the longing is still lingering in my memory.

Your brother is now in a better place, that's for sure. Though I know there's still a hint of sadness every time you remember his death.😥

I noticed we have the same culture here in Philippines, every time we prepare foods whether for religious or festivals, we always give our neighbours a food to take out. ❤️

You're right, every time you remember the good times with her, there's a longing that can't be explained. Now he's at peace there!

Really, it's nice to hear that the Philippines also has similarities with Indonesia, which has a culture of wrapping food to bring home. Isn't that very enjoyable?.
