First Time Making Young Jackfruit Balls Soup
Vegan dishes always have stories you to enjoy!.
Young Jackfruit Balls Plain Soup
Making jackfruit into unusual dishes often brings color to my kitchen. I originally wanted to make a curry like before, but finding this recipe with a soupy dish would have been delicious if my mom had a taste too. Moreover, my mom loves young jackfruit.
It was my first time making jackfruit and this is a recipe from my mother's friend, she told me that this is a recipe from her hometown who lives on the island of Java. She said that processed jackfruit is very delicious in making soup like this. Well because this is the first time it sounds very strange to me. Because I was curious I had to make this, the following preparation steps must be prepared.
Ingredients Used
200 grams tapioca flour
2 cloves of garlic
1 clove shallot
1 hazelnut
½ teaspoon ground pepper
3 pieces of cayenne pepper
Cooking Procedure
Making jackfruit balls and soups is easy, but of course every process you have to be patient and careful when making the balls because the size will be different. Similarly, when preparing soup, make sure not to overdo the ingredients, in my opinion, easy jackfruit is already very delicious in a plain soup like this.
Chop the jackfruit that has been boiled softly until smooth, so that it is easy later when mashed.
Next, chop shallots and other seasoning ingredients.
Then blender together with jackfruit until smooth, make sure everything is mixed well.
Put it into a larger container, then add salt and slowly add flour until evenly mixed.
Now if the dough can be shaped then round the dough into a ball the size you want.
Boil in boiling water until cooked, make sure to boil for about 10 minutes so that the jackfruit balls are cooked. Ignore some of the shapes that are not the same, that's my mom's circle. Now for this process, you can also steam it, it all depends on your taste.
Making Soup
Finely blend the prepared soup seasoning then chop the celery leaves and spring onions.
Put the soup seasoning in a spoon of heated cooking oil, cook for a while.
Add enough water I use 1 liter of water then wait until it boils. Add salt and also add chopped leeks and celery.
Add enough ground pepper to taste then wait for it to boil and add the jackfruit balls.
Cook until done and the soup is absorbed into the jackfruit balls.
Result
Tara!!!
For the first time the young jackfruit ball soup is ready to be served in bowls, one recipe I made yielded 3 bowls of soup with a very generous portion and very satisfied. This soup is very fresh and is best enjoyed in hot conditions during the rainy season like this. Making the atmosphere warm, the soup that was originally ordinary became very delicious this time.
For the soup, I prepare clear soup in general, which I increase the spicy flavor of cayenne pepper and most importantly celery leaves enough to give the aroma of jackfruit ball soup different from other dishes.
Well the jackfruit balls have small black spots, I think this is the result of the jackfruit releasing its sap which makes the balls come out with spots. But this didn't change the taste at all, soft chewy and bite after bite, I couldn't stop enjoying it on a rainy day like this.
At first glance, the shape of jackfruit balls is similar to Tofu Meatballs I've made before, but the texture and flavor are very different. Tofu meatballs have a lighter texture, while these jackfruit ball are almost similar to the texture of chicken meat, chewy solid. However, I recommend that you grind the jackfruit with a chopper to give it more texture. As for the size, I also suggest you make it smaller or adjust it according to your taste.
Well, Some of my jackfruit balls are also cooked in vegetable soup at dinner time, ahh it tastes fresher too. I didn't expect a simple jackfruit ball to be this delicious at all!.
