First Time Cooking Nori Tofu With Shimeji Mushroom Sauce

The tempting sensation of this mushroom is enough to make my hunger stir. Wrapping nori in tofu makes it seem luxurious, but it's still all made with simplicity.




Nori Tofu Drizzled With Shimeji Sauce

Nori tofu with simeji sauce is a beautiful poring dressing with an extraordinary menu today. Where, you will enjoy mushrooms combined with ordinary white tofu. Well, tofu tastes luxurious when wrapped in nori, especially when the mushrooms are sprinkled with something extraordinary.

At first I was hesitant to try this recipe, but after making it a while ago. The preparation of white simeji mushrooms some time ago was enough to convince me
the taste will definitely be very delicious prepared into any food.

This nori tofu covered in mushroom sauce was inspired on social media some time ago where they prepared their own tofu from non-vegan eggs. However, I took the initiative to make it a healthy vegan food and of course it is very interesting and delicious. So, make this dish using only simple ingredients, here's the recipe!




Materials Used

3 white tofu
3 small nori sheets
½ tablespoon cornstarch (dissolve in water)



Mushroom Sauce Ingredients

50 grams shimeji mushrooms
1 green tomato
1 green chili
5 cayenne peppers
1 spring onion
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 cloves of garlic




Cooking Procedure


Preparation for Making Nori Tofu


Step 1


Prepare the tofu, trim the tofu and cut it into the same size. Then dissolve the cornstarch with enough water.

Step 2


Brush the tofu with corn starch on the top surface of the tofu, then attach it with a sheet of nori.

Step 3


Do this for all three tofu, then steam the tofu for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 4


After 10 minutes, then remove the tofu and prepare the Teflon with a little spread of butter.

Step 5


Then fry the steamed tofu until golden brown.

Preparation For Making Mushroom Sauce


Step 1


Prepare the mushrooms, then cut them into several pieces, here I cut about 2 cm.

Step 2


Cut the spring onions to the size of the mushrooms or according to your taste.

Step 3


Continue preparing the chili pieces, then the tomato pieces.

Step 4


Next, finely chop the garlic, then saute the garlic until brownish yellow.

Step 5


Add the mushrooms to the pan then add the chopped tomatoes and chilies.

Step 6


Saute until wilted, add spring onions and add a little water.

Then season with salt and cook until cooked.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the nori tofu on a plate then drizzle with enough mushroom sauce. So, for the sauce, I deliberately didn't add cornstarch solution because this type of mushroom has a texture that can thicken itself, in other words it produces thick mucus. Now this mucus will be very useful in the sauce that we serve like this. You need to know that the mucus is not excessive, so if you add more flour, in my opinion it will be too much. However, it all depends on your taste.

This dish is very suitable for various events at your home. And quite filling, one portion of this dish really makes me full. The savory, tender and soft taste of tofu combines spectacular flavors. What I like most is tofu wrapped in nori which gives an extraordinary sensation in my opinion. In fact, the biggest surprise is in the mushroom sauce, the taste is truly spectacular. Makes me have to make this recipe again if I buy these mushrooms again in the future.
