Easy Ways to Make Sweet Spicy Beef

Perfect preparations will create a new passion for enjoying these dishes. Of course, what makes you able to eat a lot is what you like the most, right?



Speaking of preferences, the people in the area where I was born have their own uniqueness in preparing various dishes. Traditional dishes are one of the most popular, there are many variants shown in these dishes. However, one of the flavors in the dish that is highlighted must be spicy, or even sweet spicy. Well, all of that, in my opinion, depends on individual tastes, right? I've heard that people living outside my country very rarely enjoy spicy dishes. And that made me curious, then what is their favorite flavor. It's like in my country, without sambal or chili, people probably won't be able to eat. Then how in your country? Is it synonymous with spicy or salty food?

As a spicy lover I always show you spicy recipes with abundant use of chilies. However, you need to know the level that I have used so far is very low. I also can't eat what we used to call crazy spicy! It would make my stomach cry roar and even I would suffer after eating it. Then what level of spicy I will show you, is the level of spicy that is still reasonable. As someone who eats spicy, and maybe around me they don't like spicy. I always minimize the spicy taste by adding sweetness to it. Like the addition of sweet soy sauce, or the addition of sugar.

Today I will invite you to make sweet and spicy shredded beef, well from the title you will know that the taste I am showing here is spicy and sweet. This recipe is not the first time I made, I often prepare this. And of course I got this recipe from my sister, she is also a lover of cooking like me. There are many recipes from him and this is the best recipe from one of them.




Let's start cooking!



Materials Needed

In making sweet and spicy shredded beef, we need a lot of spices. And of course the spices are in the form of ingredients that are dipped in the dish. Not only that, you also need ground spices that are easy to get and the following ingredients must be prepared:

  • 500 grams of beef
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 2 pandan leaves
  • 2 sticks of lemongrass
  • Sweet soy sauce (optional)


Blended Seasoning

  • 15 curly red chilies
  • 10 shallots
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 10 cm turmeric
  • 2 candlenuts
  • 2 cm galangal



Cooking Procedure


To make spicy shredded beef, we need to process the meat first. So the step I took was to marinate the meat with enough salt. Then boil the meat with bay leaves, 1 stalk of lemon grass and also 2 pandan leaves.


Place the beef in the pot once the water is boiling, then simmer the meat for about 40 minutes or until the beef is tender.

While waiting for the meat to be tender, I prepared the ground spices, cleaned all the prepared spices then blended until smooth.

Then check the meat again, if it's tender, remove and drain in a warm waiting container.

Then pound the meat with a pestle and then shred the meat according to taste. Now, here I am shredding it not too small, so that when you eat it you can feel the meat.

Sauté the mashed spices with a little vegetable oil, then don't forget to add the lemongrass stalks and bay leaves while sautéing.

Add the shredded meat. Stir until the meat is evenly distributed with the spices, wait 5 minutes then add water.

Cook until cooked for about 20 minutes then add sweet soy sauce and a pinch of salt, don't forget to correct the taste. Now, turn off the stove if the water has shrunk or the texture of the cooked meat is very thick, meaning the meat is ready to be served.

Serve the sweet and spicy shredded beef on your plate, and you can enjoy this dish using warm white rice or baked potatoes. Don't ever doubt the taste and aroma, the combination of spices and meat permeates perfectly. You know, this is one of my nephew's favorites, they really like this shredded beef eaten with white rice.
