Delicious Acehnese Pickled Cucumber to Complement My Lunch
Pickles are the perfect choice when you want to enjoy a fresh dish. Yes, this pickled cucumber is one of the characteristics of the Aceh region when there is a special occasion. Pickled cucumber becomes a complementary dish to fill the talam when various foods are prepared. Well usually in our area pickled cucumber is combined with white rice and various side dishes of fish, chicken and even other types of meat. Typical dishes of our region during special celebrations are very rarely found processed vegetables or fruit. Usually meat is the main menu in the list of dishes, so pickled cucumber becomes one of the prima donnas of plant-based presentation.
Actually there are many types of pickled cucumber, processed with other complementary ingredients, such as carrots and some are processed with pineapple, usually this pickle is served depending on the type of food to be served. Like pickled cucumber and carrots are usually served with fried rice, as I have prepared before. Well this pickle itself uses pieces of carrots, whole cayenne pepper and also onions. While this pickled cucumber, only relies on sliced cucumber with a combination of seasoning ingredients in the form of onions and chilies.
This processed pickled cucumber is the target of many people, besides being fresh it also tastes very distinctive combined with everything made from fresh ingredients. There is no cooking process with anything just stirred in let it crisp even though it looks mushy with the provision of salt. Well this dish is indeed identical with a little sweet and spicy. So it is very suitable to be enjoyed in any condition.
Here let's prepare step by step preparation in making this dish!.
Ingredients
1 tomato
6 cloves of shallots
3 cayenne pepper
1 red chili pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
Making Procedure
Clean the cucumber skin, here I clean it with a special knife so that the cucumber skin can be sliced thinly and leave the green color.
To get a beautiful and jagged texture I scrape the lur with a cutlery, then I thinly slice the cucumber.
After the cucumber is thinly sliced, I add salt and marinate for about 10 minutes.
While waiting, prepare the other ingredients, thinly slice shallots, chili.
Then add it to the cucumber that has been marinated with salt.
Next add the tomato pieces and finally I add sugar.
Result
Pickled cucumber is ready to be served, enjoy after a few minutes of being processed better, when the pickle has released natural water from the cucumber. Just look like I added water to this pickle even though this is the natural pickle water that comes out of the cucumber when adding sugar.
Simple but very tasty for this bowl of pickled cucumber. If you have a lot of cucumbers I think this is an interesting idea for you to try. But make it when you want to enjoy it because fresh is better.
