For those of you who live in my country or maybe an Asian like me, you are familiar with this vegetable, it is widely sold in traditional markets and the nearest supermarket. Well, for those of you who live outside of Asia, you might be able to get this typical vegetable from Indonesia from the nearest Asian shops in your country.

Ingredients Used

  • 200 grams of cassava leaves
  • 200 grams of papaya flowers
  • 13 cloves of onion
  • 20 pieces of cayenne pepper
  • 5 pieces of sunti acid
  • 100 grams of grated coconut

This one menu is very similar to a salad, if you are a vegetable lover this is the right choice. The ingredients are very easy and cheap. Seasonings made from grated coconut and sunti acid, making this food synonymous with regional food, well Sunti acid is an acid that is fermented directly by my mother, this sunti acid is star fruit fermented with salt, in the future, if I have the opportunity I will definitely will share the process of making this wuluh starfruit for you foodies.

Making Process

Step 1

First you wash and cut medium-sized vegetables so that they are easy to boil

Step 2

Next you heat 1.5 liters of water, after the water starts to boil, you enter the papaya flowers, add a teaspoon of salt, boil for than 15 minute.

Step 3

After you boil the papaya flowers, then you enter the cassava leaves, here you can mix the boiling of these two vegetables. This is because cassava leaves can neutralize the bitter taste in papaya flowers. Boiling is done for 20 minutes.

Step 4

After you finish boiling, you can prepare the spices, namely shallots, cayenne pepper, sunti acid and grated coconut.

Step 5

You can grind all these ingredients using a chopper too, because the milling does not use water, here I am smoothing it the traditional way, which is using a millstone which is still classic.

Step 6

Next, you cut the vegetables that have been boiled, and the last step is to mix the vegetables with the spices that have been mashed earlier. Now you can enjoy the salad

A typical Aceh salad or in the Acehnese language called "Cicah", you can enjoy it, it tastes quite delicious, the vegetables are tender with a different taste from grated coconut and onions, enough to make you feel that this vegetable-based food is quite perfect. You can make a side dish for lunch with white rice during the day or you can eat it directly.

This home-cooked food, a specialty in our area, this one menu is usually used as a side dish for our family's lunch, vegetable-based food is definitely our target.
