hoy en "Mi Colección de Vinilos" os voy a enseñar el primero que compré en toda mi vida, tenía sólo 13 años, nunca había comprado algo tan caro, de hecho lo compré en el viaje de fin de curso que organizó mi colegio cuando estaba en 8º de EGB, una de las pocas ocasiones en que, con esa edad, podías manejar algo de dinero, fuimos a Palma de Mallorca, todo un acontecimiento, era la primera vez que viajaría en avión, a una isla y además con los compañeros del cole, un montón de novedades juntas. En aquella época sentía aunténtica devoción por Dire Straits, la banda de rock capitaneada por el guitarrista y cantante Mark Knopfler.

Mi hermano mayor tenía varios discos suyos aunque era "Alchemy: Dire Starits Live" el que de verdad me volvía loco, todo el álbum, pero especialmente la magnifica interpretación en directo de "Sultans Of Swing". Si no lo conoces búscalo en YouTube y verás que no exagero.

Era el año 1985, y empezaban a proliferar los video-clips musicales, hasta no hacía mucho, los videos musicales eran sólo actuaciones en vivo o "playback" en programas televisivos pero ya por esas fechas abundaban los mencionados video-clips, y fue el del tema "Money For Nothing" el que nos dejó completamente K.O. a la juventud de aquella época, no solo por la canción que fue un éxito rotundo, que además contaba con la colaboración en los coros del mismísimo "Sting", sino porque por primera vez se utilizaban imágenes generadas por ordenador en un vídeo musical.

Así pues, no pude resistir la tentación, al entrar en una tienda de discos de Palma de Mallorca y comprar el L.P., así sorprendería a mi hermano y disfrutaríamos de nuevo de la ahora ya mítica banda Dire Straits. Poco más tarde, en ese mismo viaje me compraría una camiseta con la portada del álbum, lo que se dice "un completo" 😅.

Hello everyone

Today in "My Vinyl Collection" I am going to show you the first one I bought in my entire life, I was only 13 years old, I had never bought something so expensive, in fact I bought it on the end-of-year trip that my school organized when I was in the 8th year of EGB, one of the few occasions when, at that age, you could handle some money, we went to Palma de Mallorca, quite an event, it was the first time that I would travel by plane, to an island and also with my classmates from school, a lot of news together. At that time he felt a true devotion to Dire Straits, the rock band led by guitarist and singer Mark Knopfler.

My older brother had several records of the band but it was "Alchemy: Dire Starits Live" that really drove me crazy, the whole album, but especially the magnificent live performance of "Sultans Of Swing". If you don't know them, look them up on YouTube and you'll see that I'm not exaggerating.

It was the year 1985, and music video clips began to proliferate, until not long ago, music videos were only live performances or "playback" on television programs but by then the aforementioned video clips abounded, and it was the song "Money For Nothing" which left us completely K.O. to the youth of that time, not only because of the song that was a resounding success, which also had the collaboration of "Sting" himself in the choirs, but also because for the first time computer-generated images were used in a music video.

So, I couldn't resist the temptation, when I went into a record store in Palma de Mallorca and bought the L.P., so I would surprise my brother and we would enjoy again the now mythical band Dire Straits. A little later, on that same trip, I would buy a t-shirt with the album cover, what is called "a complete set" 😅.
