Splinterlands - Rebellion reward cards are coming soon!
Hey everyone and welcome back to my Splinterlands blog, it's good to be back from holiday and grind my Splinterlands accounts again, while playing on a smartphone now is a good experience, it can't ever beat the big screen on my PC.
This weeks Social Media Challenge is - of course about the new set of reward cards that are about to launch, in a week from now on August 15 it's time to phase out the Chaos Legion reward cards we have been earning for the last... 18 months now? So this is the last season ever we can earn them for free, after that, they can be unbound and listed for sale.
I'm curious to see what the price of them would be, and I think there will be sell pressure one last time from the bot farm owners who has been pestering the Splinterlands economy for ages now, this is now fixed with the Wild Pass.
I think only players in the top leagues have complete reward sets, for me, being a Silver player most of this reward cycle, and a Gold player since the start of this year I'm at gold level for most of the cards, but I'm missing a few legendary cards for gold level like Usut who gets the healing ability and Iziar who gets the martyr ability, so I'll probably be buying a few more to complete my set on my main up to gold level while I'm building towards a max Chaos Legion set.
Rebellion Reward Cards
The Rebellion's reward card expansion will be the same size as Chaos Legion's:
- 12 common cards
- 12 rare cards
- 7 epic cards
- 12 Legendary cards
On top of that, it comes with four new abilities sure to shake up the meta, here's a list:
Mimic: At the beginning of round 2 and each following round, gain a random ability from the enemy team. 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Dispel removes one mimicked ability in the order they were gained. Debilitations, Targeting abilities, Ambush, Weapons Training, Flank, Reach, Charge, and Taunt cannot be mimicked. With the Rebellion reward cards, Splinterlands is also introducing Debilitations, which damage or inflict negative status effects on allies instead of enemies. Cards with Debilitations generally have higher stats for their mana cost; you'll have decide if the drawback is worth the extra punch they pack.
I don't know if it's good to use, we just have to experiment with it but it will definitely bring some fire to the battlegrounds and shake up things. For the players who like to come up with new tactics and strategies these are great times, also, if you get your ass handed to you by another player with a great strategy, there's nothing wrong with adopting it!
Three Debilitations with the Rebellion reward cards are about to be launched:
Incendiary
Reapplies Burning at the beginning of each round. Burning has a 33% chance to spread to adjacent units at the beginning of each round, then all Burning units lose 2 health. Burning can be cleansed.
Electrified
Deals 1 damage to all allied units at the beginning of each round.
Weary
Each round, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate.
So, reading all this, it's just impossible for me to comprehend what this means for my battles, because everything will change, and that's not bad - it's fun! everyone will have to start learning again and combine old with new.
The debilitations are especially useful when a fight won't last many turns I think, so mainly for low mana battles.
Like the Chaos Legion reward set, this Rebellion reward set will be soulbound, meaning they can't be sold or transferred before they're out of print, and looking at the current set that will take at least 18 months again so there's plenty of time to grind on and earn a bunch of them.
I'm not going to show every card in this first rewards post because I'm sure there will be more weeks to make post about this and it will just be overwhelming 😅
But I'll just show you a few and give you my first impression.

The Earth team is primarily a magic team so they could surely use a strong melee attacker and she looks awesome 😍 the drawback of these revealing posts are they are all displayed at max level, and this won't be in reach for a lot of smaller players so I guess we will just have to be patient until they're released and we can see the stats charts for all of them.
That being said, at max level she's a beast, imagine she's attacking and almost killed an enemy monster, just 1 or 2 HP left, so with the new execute ability she's able to hit again, and then the trample activates to hit again! Will the execute trigger again after that?

Wow, he looks like a real power creep, force field comes in handy to counter it's awesome damage output, but from what I've read the Incendiary is a real drawback too so I'll have to see how much love this one gets from me 😁

Another WOW!! That speed combined with phase and backfire... just wow! The most amazing thing is it's 'only' a rare card, I think this is my favorite so far! The low HP makes it a glass canon for sure but she shines in equalizer rulesets, and when she's tucked away in the middle of your team, a nice one for little league too!
So, what's your favorite card you've seen so far? And what are you doing in the last season, saving glint for the new set or scrambling to buy as much of the old cards while you can?
I'm grinding HARD to earn as much glint as possible, but when you're not playing at the top it's pretty tough to get large amounts but it is what it is, the most important thing is I'm having fun while grinding 😀
Well, this is it for today's post, I'm excited for next week's post because by then we will know more!
