Taking Cycling To The Next Level
Hello Friends, |
---|
Funny title right? You might be wondering how can cycling possibly move from the normal level to the next level? If you are still pondering about this question, then you need to experience riding a unicycle.
I know we are all familiar with riding bicycles, and most of us are less familiar with the unicycle. To get a better picture of what a tricycle is, just imagine a bicycle that is divided into two different parts from the front to the back.
As you can see in the image above, I was not only putting on a skating shoe, but I was equally holding a unicycle in my hand. It's just like a bicycle, but it is made up of just one wheel, a pair of pedals, and a seat. Like that's all fams, lol.
For me, this is one of the most scariest invention I have tested. And all along I have been wondering what the inventor of this type of cycle was planning to achieve while making it up.
Unicycle is not very popular in this part of the world, because many people deems it a waste of money to buy something that they might end up not being comfortable to ride.
I usually go for workouts on Saturdays, but immediately after am done jogging, I would put on my skating shoes and start displaying my skating skills on the road, but there's my best friend Kelvin, always riding his unicycle comfortably.
One good thing about this unicycle is that even when you are not riding it, you can still carrying it portably in your hands and go anywhere.
I was comfortable with riding real bicycles and skating, until my friend jokingly told me that I was too afraid and soft hearted like a woman. He playfully called me a woman because I couldn't ride the unicycle.
This got me motivated, and I finally decided to fight my fears and try on the unicycle, after all 'what is there to be afraid of' I thought to myself. Learning the unicycle was as if I was learning how to walk again, because I was always falling every 2 seconds, lol.
There was nowhere I could hold on to, unlike the bicycle where I could hold on to the handle bars. At first, I would sit down in the unicycle and try to find my balance before I move, but I would end up falling everytime.
It was usually a battle between me and gravity each time I sat down on that unicycle. It was as if I was on a suicide mission. But my friend did it easily. Infact, they were times he would even raise the seat of the unicycle higher, and he would still move comfortably.
In my opinion, I think this type of cycling was designed for people that loves it rough. Because I know they are people who would get bored about the normal routines or procedures of doing things. I think the unicycle was made for such people seeking crazy cycling experiences.
But just as my friend, I think I am now an expert in unicycling, and I can confidently say that 'practice really does makes perfect.' The problem is that alot of people are too afraid to even try.
Just like in bicycles, once the unicycle is in motion, you would only need to adjust your balance as you gravitate and move on to your destination.
To as many people that have not tried cycling, either with bicycles or unicycles, here am I beseeching you to go have fun and enjoy the excitement that comes with it.
Wow, I've never had the opportunity to drive one of those. I think it's complicated by keeping the seat from going forward or backward. But I think the most important thing is to have one available for testing. You don't usually see them everywhere. Regards @normalyf
lol, you right boss, it's quite complicated when compared to a full bicycle. But like I said, practice makes perfect. All you need is to be able to stay balanced while moving.
I really love your courage to try it out.
Thanks @stevenson7
Cheers bud
It's amazing to see people riding those unicycles.
I would have liked to see a picture of you trying to ride it :D

Big thanks @hive-177745, I really appreciate you support and guidance.
Smiles, am currently faraway from my friend who has the unicycle, but as soon as am back, I would share better pictures and probably tutorial videos on the unicycle with my Cycling community family here on Hive:-)❤
Hey, the unicycle looks scary, thank God I'm a woman, you already know why he called you a woman because I won't try this crazy unicycle experience, lol, my bicycle is enough for me, skating is even more fun too.
😂😂🤣 You have no excuse again oo, because what a man can do, a woman can do better😊.
This is really scary, I don’t think I’d be able to navigate my way around a unicycle. That’s how I’ll break my teeth or even die.😂
So our Ghananian princess is afraid to die😅
But frankly speaking, you are right. It's really scary for beginners to navigate around the unicycle. Although I can now ride it, I still don't joke around it all the time to avoid breaking of teeth or death 😅
Everyone is scared to die. There’s so much I’m yet to do on this earth 😅
