M10 Globular Cluster in constellation of Ophiuchus
The other night i imaged the eagle nebula but while waiting for that target to rise above the fence i managed a cheeky 30 mins on the globular cluster Messier 10, it amazes me that these things above out heads are being drowned out by artificial light, the cluster is about 14k light years away with around 100k stars. There is a theory globular clusters are the remnants of captured dwarf galaxies, it would interesting to know how many of these are in the small & large Magalenic clouds.
The images i capture are from my 102mm altair refractor paired with a altair 269c dedicated astro camera chilled to -10*celcius. I am hoping to get a few more targets over the summer but short nights are not great for imaging, autumn will bring Mars back into imaging range which i am very excited about.

lol not that far away then....
Wow incredible shot, I'm in awe
If a star in M10 blows up among them, does anybody hear it?
If not, then I hope we can get more gold and silver produced into existence.
supernova do create heavy elements and just think about what 14 billion years and a lot hydrogen can do
Amazing that you can capture something that is 14k light years away. I looked it up and 14k years ago, the earth entered a warming period in which many ice age animals died, and the fertile crescent became VERY fertile. Coincidently, the Miyake event, believed to be a massive coronal mass ejection or solar flare, happened 14,000 years ago, which is the time when the light from your globular cluster first appeared.
Crazy distances in space, as for coronal mass ejection look up the Carrington event.
