Lapping It Up and Agreeing: That's the Problem I'm Seeing

avatar
(Edited)

Have you ever been placed in a position?  As in: Has someone ever physically picked you up and sat you down somewhere?

Probably not since you were a child, correct?  What if I told you it happened today?  Would you disagree?

As you sit in the place of your choosing, did you notice how your device entered your brain, picked it up, and put it somewhere else?

Are all these questions beginning to drive you mad?

NoNamesLeftToUse - Another Mind Gone.png

Questions

Why don't more people ask more questions?

For one, you probably won't get a straight answer.  Try it.

Go to a Youtube video, preferably something you'd normally consume coming out of the news and information realms; ask a question.

The first thing you might notice is the part about not knowing what to ask.  It all just seems so perfect.  Why question it?  Won't that just be offensive and cause an argument?  "I trust my people to know everything, all the time.  Never had a problem."

In theory, the one presenting the information would have the answers, easily, and would be happy to help, much like an educator.

So where are they?  Nowhere to be found.

Asking one of the randoms within the comment section arena probably won't lead to answers either.  Try it.

Pick a random commentator and question them.  Like walking up to some random guy on the street, "Hello.  Why is this shit happening and what did they mean by that?"

Is an informed opinion a direct answer?  Where did they get their information from?

Just try asking a challenging question, anywhere.  First thing you might notice is how embarrassed you'll be for not knowing the answer in public spaces.  Inner turmoil occurs.  You become afraid to ask.  Too many consequences.  Not worth it.  Everyone will pounce at the opportunity to appear smart by picking on someone perceived as stupid.

And of course the one so willing and generous to put the information together is too busy working on the next information packet to even notice any questions were asked; could not care any less about your, "Drama."

Not a question.

Did you even notice, after all these years, the subliminal messaging in plain sight has been conditioning you to not ask questions.

Let's break it down, shall we?

  • Leave
  • Comment

Most people choose, Leave.

Once they're done, they leave; on to the next episode but first it's time to be manipulated by a few ads that require skipping until you hit that annoying one which makes you sit there and watch the timer go to zero, instead of watching the ad.

Knowing all eyes could be on you and your comment if you do decide to express your opinion, you'll probably want that comment to be, special.

You're not going to be top comment most popular extraordinaire material if all you have to say is, "Nice wonderful news information today thank you master of all things wise."

No, you want to be noticed.  That shit has to pop and since you're surrounded by, like minds, the easiest way to get likes from the like is to say something they'll, like.

Words and thoughts become a performance.

They're not going to like a question!  Questions don't make top slots under the news and information.  The comment that agrees the best, does.  Monkey see, monkey do; been like that for years now.  Agreeing makes you popular and that's way better than being cancelled.

Even when the content is based around disagreeing with a concept, the people consuming and responding are often in agreeance with the arguments presented, by default.  The system is rigged.

Of course I will not discount the fact disagreeing with some sources by default is fashionable as well.  Yelling at the "mainstream" for instance, yet, still not asking questions, still not getting answers, plus they'll shut the comment section off in order to help create the illusion of, "There's no problem here."

NoNamesLeftToUse Eyesore.png

This is a problem you guys.

Asking questions is an inconvenience by design, reserved for things like press conferences and people with, special question abilities and asking privileges (SQAAP).

For the most part, humanity has been sorted out like laundry anyway, and only gets the brainwash cycle meant just for them.  For consumption purposes only; not questioning.

"Is this human cotton, or wool?  Hot, or cold?  Do they require an extra rinse?"

Some material will tell you to question everything; notice nobody ever questions that material...

News and information is becoming entertainment or has become entertainment.  Fully equipped with cheering crowds who are also ready and willing to boo their opponents out of the arena.

Entertainment often depends on suspension of disbelief.

Screenshot (79).png

These elements of entertainment could lead to quite a few problems on the road and down the road.  Society might even be getting a flat tire now and even breaking down because of this madness.

Even the simple act of criticizing delivery methods seems futile.  Many people have been preconditioned to think I'm talking about information coming from, the other team.  Theirs wouldn't do this to them so therefore it's not a problem.

When you don't play for any team and stand on the outside of everything, only looking in, you notice it's all the same.

What leads you to dismiss some information sources and not others, by default?  Your sources conditioned you to do so.

There's a war on for your mind! RAWR!

Translates to: "I need your mind or I can't make money so I'll fight for it and take it back from the enemy so it's mine.  People love a hero out fighting the good fight, for them, so they don't have to."

That story might need another layer of tin foil!

Translates to: "I wear a suit and smile for the camera while mocking you, therefore people will want to be like me, since I appear to be socially acceptable at all times, and society is known to be superficial and arrogant provided someone else makes it okay to do so."

It's also big business and people like money.

If your livelihood depended on this strange new phenomenon with all its intricacies, you'd be the first to dismiss it.  Won't hear it from them.  "Nothing to see here."

Getting drilled every day would most likely drive someone insane.  The recipe to success is a talking head or writer with minimal opposition and a barrier between them and everyone else; information has fans, dopamine hit, get money, rinse and repeat.

Much of the educational information out there; it's solid.  Can take what you've learned and apply it directly to your life if needed.  Learn more to improve upon those skills.  Bad information leads to poor results; educator cannot make a living.

When modern politics are applied with opinions disguised as news/information along with an ulterior motive, playing for a team; that's where I'll add my opinion and say something like, this is a disaster.

An extreme example:  How strong is the flat Earth theory without flat earthers?  Falls flat on its face but if some see others believing, one can feel more comfortable believing bunk knowing someone will have their back, all while claiming it's for a good cause since they are fighting the good fight.  Now a market has been established, set in stone; bunk peddlers create a permanent revenue stream.  Someone steps in to shut down a charlatan and they say, "See!  Our enemy doesn't want the world to know about this because it will ruin them!"  Strengthening the argument (in their minds); furthering profit potential.

Notice how globe Earth doesn't have fanatics?

That's called spin.

Seems like since covid went quiet, so did the people when it comes to feeling like there's something not quite right about how information is presented and distributed, though the problem didn't go away, it went back into hiding in plain sight.

While it was all happening, many people, possibly a majority, were drowned out and censored in a sense by the two teams and their fans making all the noise and trying to shut everyone down except themselves.  Much of the population was sitting back wondering,  "WTF is going on here?"

A dark time in history; blocking it out is understandable.  We all just spent two years watching news/information and devices prescribe medical treatment, on both sides of the argument.  Of course that still happens but never to the point where the thoughts are drilled into each and every head, daily, nonstop, from all directions, not just the mainstream; seemingly everyone, everywhere.

Two years of medical opinion fanatics trying to run the world with information.  Sorted into piles, at odds with one another, clouding out the questions.  The real questions.  Real questions like, "How can I know you're telling the truth?"

Uhm.  Excuse me.  This is our truth so of course it's the truth because we say it's the truth by convoluting truth so you become annoyed then leave and we can live our truthful existence in peace and harmony with our fellow believers without you here meddling in our affairs.

Totally not a cult...

NoNamesLeftToUse Missing Three.png

I tried asking that question on both sides of the argument, several times; got yelled out of the room every time and it seemed like they just thought I was the enemy playing for the other team.  Or they'd basically suggest you read the information, again; sometimes offer a different version of the same thing.  No actual answers.  "How can you not see how it's the truth!  Are you stupid!  Wake up sheeple!"

People were talking about their information being censored, as they censor your questions.  Others were brandishing their Official Stamp of Approval badges anyone could buy at the store and wear on their face.

Nobody wanted to reach the other side and come to an agreement or even consider why coming together would be important.  They just wanted to spill their shit so people could cheer for it.

This is a disaster.  Nobody knew why they were doing it or so obsessed with it; just did it, every day, for many months.  Somehow convinced the end was near; did nothing but try to prove it rather than preparing for it.

We did it to ourselves.

People always do.

Everyone in crypto right now knows nearly all details about FTX (outsiders know very little); along with all the previous screw ups in crypto.  Look what happens every damn time.  Word gets out, we spread it; fucking destroy ourselves then sit there and blame someone else.  "Damn regulators!"  Or whatever, "Mainstream haters!"  As we're scrambling to dump every last dime because money gone maybe.

Crypto people did that and the argument is: They weren't the right kind of crypto people.

Meanwhile the real outsiders don't even own crypto, don't care as deeply, since it doesn't concern them.  "That's what they get for playing with funny money."

Musk is destroying Twitter.  Did he really?  Or is he just a man restructuring his business who just so happened to piss off a lot of people with clout and ties to information distribution, while we sit back and spread it, since we are the distribution fool tool, working ourselves up into a frenzy like usual about the things we can't control.

I don't know and I don't use Twitter so I don't care but you're most certainly free to share this there.

Why are people working for team red or team blue, for free, spreading those words as if there's nothing else to say?  Isn't the government supposed to work for you without question, instead of what we have today?

News and information is a product yet the customer is never right if there's a problem; consumer does all the heavy lifting when it comes to distribution and advertising, for free, by spreading it; consumer might even start paying a monthly subscription to people just so they can do that job.

Wow.

It's all so strange, because in order to avoid something like another covid-like controlled media shower out to rock the planet and the people, all they have to do is throw away those thoughts and turn their backs on it.  That'll take all the power and control away if they truly are attempting to manipulate an entire populace.  Someone asks you to comply you just say, "Well I didn't know."

But who would be brave enough to do that.  Might miss something...

NoNamesLeftToUse - Lines.jpeg

Now I must ask you to snap out of it.

Earlier in this article I used power of suggestion to trick your mind into believing something to be true.

Did you even notice?

I have no proof "Leave a comment" is some form of intentional subliminal messaging.  I simply framed it in a way that allows for the suggestion to enter the mind freely, without question, and become true.  Look how I even told you not to question it:

Not a question

the subliminal messaging in plain sight has been conditioning you to not ask questions

Regardless of sources and whatever team you play for, that occurs all the time in the world of online news and information.  Clickbait headlines.  Memes.  Heavy in advertising as well.  It's also the most crucial element when delivering a message meant to lead people into believing, the strangest of things.

It's being suggested you see things a certain way and works to convince without question; hits all the right nerves in a sense.  Doesn't always work but, does work.

Can be a form of hypnosis.  I'm creating awareness.

A subliminal message disguised as a subliminal suggestion within a subliminal message acting as a direct message; or something.  That might be a first.

Be careful out there.

For two years it was suggested you'll die or become sick if you take a vaccine.  For two years it was suggested you'll die or become sick if you don't take a vaccine.  Imagery also plays a key roll in offering up suggestions.  I'm sure you can recall seeing alarming graphic images and charts, everywhere, on both sides of the argument, constantly, along with several suggestions your livelihood would be on the line, forever.  That's one way to mess with a mind.

All pieced together, how the mind processes information can have a lasting impact on the brain; mainly the parts you can't control.  Brainwash is a real thing.

The ultimate mindfuck of epic proportions smashing into everyone equally, and nobody even knew what hit them; didn't even know they were being hit or how to process it.  Lapped it up and ran with it while thinking only the other team was screwed up as they scrambled to find a way to agree with something.  Resulting in billions experiencing a pandemic of covid, hypochondriasis, and maybe even a dash of anosognosia, amongst other various brain mishaps.

My opinion.

Have a nice day.

People have shied away from debate, discussion, comments, questioning no wonder so many walk around like zombies never questioning. When obtaining some form of semblance of an honest answer to implement and let others know. No one knows everything concerted effort in questioning has to take place!

People need to start clashing again, rather than going to their safe space to pretend they're fighting for an audience. Requires skill and patience. Very difficult to pull off though when everything needs to be a spectacle on social media; devolving into little games of one-upmanship.

Not shying away from things one doesn't normally like, would help. Facing it, questioning it, and having people around to communicate in a healthy manner.

Would be difficult to break current trends. Some days I think it needs to completely fall apart first, then be rebuilt from the ground up with lessons learned. That could take several decades.

communicate in a healthy manner.

All genders busy peacocking for attention, the 'one-upmanship' you mention is what has happened, problem solving also does not happen around boardroom tables or ministerial cabinets shouting each other down. No one listens, thinks, questions before putting a reasonable answer to solving situations.

Current trend is everyone kowtowing to powers that be, totally repeated word verbatim through media for sheeple to follow like puppy dogs with tails wagging, or are they being wagged by the peacocks?

That whole covid thing brought out all the BitChute and YouTube alumni's. I mean, that whole covid thing brought out all the BitChute and YouTube alumni's?

Speaking of red/blue, pro/con. Stateside legislature says church and state are separate but when it's election season, polls are conducted at the church.

I think it's strange I'm not even from the US and I know all about their local world problems. Or I should say, what they want people to know. I'm sure a Canadian spreading that information still somehow helps their cause, whatever that might be at the time. The world doesn't know what's happening in Canada. Is it because they don't care or simply don't get bombarded.

If they don't care, doesn't that just mean they don't watch Southpark.

Blame Canada, I guess. And those stereotypes are so shit, yet people believe it. Brings up something else I should have mentioned. There are people that process entertainment incorrectly; it's reaching them more like information would. They'll take jokes seriously, for instance. Then become naturally confused, sometimes even angry. Whereas when it reaches the mind of someone able to process it without interference of some kind, they naturally laugh; something that can't be faked.

I'm rambling...lol

Since we're rambling.

Lotsa stuff on YouTube censored these days like music videos, BASE jumping, comedy, downhill mtn bikes, gotta show age verification to see them shits. Don't crack jokes! Wars, however, underage sex trafficking, murdering spouses or deadly bear attacks are wide open—just click.

There's a question in there somewhere.

That's what happens when politics and info collide I guess. If an artist or entertainer is being cancelled, following the rope leads to a politician of some kind, their reporters, and the fans; all working to shut it down. Oddly enough nowadays entertainment is somehow in direct competition for those valuable eyes and ears.

And yes, they'd prefer to talk about and show atrocities.

The fiction writer and write horror; it's made up, doesn't exist. They'll be really pissed about it, try to cancel it, and show you real horror, and in some cases the fans of that material become happy to see it, whereas the fiction writer stirs other, more natural feelings, like fright, but know their safe, meanwhile the other side is constantly told they're unsafe and provided detailed "evidence."

Odd. I could probably say that better but I'm rambling.

I usually watch YouTube for entertainment purposes. Rarely to learn something. But I very rarely comment. I do not even remember when was the last time I wrote a comment on YouTube. Probably years ago. But I often read the comments of others, and they are sometimes funnier than the videos. There is really nothing to question.

The main goal is mostly to enjoy the time I spend on the platform. Rarely to learn something (either something theoretical or something practical). Of course some people like controversial things, and they ask questions. And some people do it simply for attention. To get noticed by others. I rarely upload videos to YouTube, and I do it mostly for myself, so I do not want to get noticed by others on the platform.

The only exception is the video recordings of two-way radioamateur contacts. The operator of the other station usually notices my video shortly after I upload the video. This is because I put our callsigns into the title of the video. These videos can be interesting for other radioamateurs, or for people, who would like to be a radioamateur. Sometimes I also watch the radioamateur videos of others. This is a very interesting and exciting hobby/lifestyle. My favorite is its randomness. You call CQ (general call), and you do not know who will answer it, and what the signal strength will be. It is a complete surprise.

What do you think about amateur radio? Do you have any experience with it?

Yeah, entertainment is specifically designed to be, enjoyed. Supposed to shut that part of the brain off and not yell at the content if something seems off. Comedy shows hate hecklers for a reason.

I don't have any experience with amateur radio. Growing up though I had one of those massive satellite dishes that tuned in to all kinds of weird feeds not intended to be seen by the public. News reporters just standing there, for instance, and joking around, swearing their heads off. Could see what goes on behind the scenes. Kind of eerie at times.

massive satellite dishes

I have not used dishes so far, but it is possible on multiple microwave bands (mostly above 1 GHz) with various propagation modes, for example RS (Rainscatter) on 10 GHz. I mostly use wire antennas on shortwave bands (below 30 MHz). I use one medium wave band (1.8 MHz), which is often classified as a shortwave band. Nowadays I use one VHF (very high frequency) band. The 50 MHz. I used 144 MHz and 432 MHz in the past. The latter is UHF (Ultra High Frequency).

I had a "mini tv" when I was a kid. Could only pick up two channels and didn't have color, but I still enjoyed it.

It had a UHF receiver and for some reason I could listen in on phone calls, but only one side of the conversation. I kept that a secret from everyone.

The old mobile phones worked on 450 MHz without encryption. This is why anyone was able to listen to them. Later the service providers moved it to 900 MHz and to 1800 MHz, both with encryption.

One interesting fact: You can listen to air traffic control with an AM receiver between 108 MHz and 137 MHz. These transmissions are not encrypted.

What's the craziest thing you've heard while messing around with these radios?

The first time I heard the ISS (International Space Station) on 145.800 MHz was one of my most exciting radio experiences. I used an Icom IC-V80E handheld radio. It was around 2010 and 2012. If you have a radioamateur license, and a 2 m (144-146 MHz) transceiver with a directional antenna, then you can try to contact them on the radio. I have not tried that, because you need a directional antenna to be heard on the ISS, and I have not had a directional antenna so far. Receiving them is much easier. Even the factory antenna of a handheld radio is enough to be able to listen to their transmissions. Listening to the ARISSat-1 on 145.950 MHz was similarly very exciting. But that satellite is no longer working nowadays.

That's actually quite interesting. I didn't realize one could tap in to the space station. Don't have much time though; that thing is moving fast, disappears over the horizon, signal cuts out I assume.

Mostly yes, but this depends on the receiver and on the antenna you use, and on the propagation too.

It is beyond a shadow of a doubt, our own fault. We have from birth been told "Don't do that. Don't ask so many questions. Stop talking so much.

These days even kids are no longer looking to their adult counterparts for answers because they would rather "learn the world" through an iPad and the parents who are just as addicted are the ones to provide such iPad.

Governments of any size or shape will hate you for asking the difficult questions because they don't want to have to answer to the people. It's all been turned on it's head and people really are so messed up after the last few years that I think apathy reigns supreme.

The question remains: How do we stop it? How do we undo any of it? Anyone that starts asking the difficult questions now just gets labelled one way or another depending on who doesn't like the question.

Stems from impatience. Grows into submissiveness.

They call it social media but the social side of things is missing many crucial elements. In some ways it's antisocial media, I suppose.

They put something like press secretaries directly in the fray with prepared bullshit, while the questions are more like gotcha moments. It's more of a spectacle than anything, it seems. People see that and would want to shy away from those situations.

Would be difficult to change course. I'd say next to impossible. People would first have to find what's happening inconvenient for them. But it's almost too convenient. Stems from progress of course. Only natural to work in ways that make life easy, for yourself.

Yes, well you and I agree on social media. It's become a very shallow replacement for what was once a real connection with people.

There are some people that are always asking the tough questions but they get labelled trouble makers.

Convenience - yes that's a huge problem because people have grown so lax these days that anything that is even vaguely uncomfortable becomes too much effort. Are we doomed? Yes, most likely. Luckily we probably won't be around for when it really gets bad, these are early days yet.

This would be the coasting stage. Society is on autopilot. Enjoying the comfort zone. Being pulled along. Thoughts are following a template. People don't steer away from it too much.

Take them out of that element and place them in this one; several seem to experience a bit of a culture shock.

This is just the truth. How we were brought up. When a child is 3 years old, he will ask a lot of question to understand this life but parents will ignore some of the question and tell him to wait, when he grow up, he will know it. Hmmmm. We have missed a lot.

I'm actually quite fond of sitting back and watching. Getting involved and studying the results, for my own entertainment basically, since I know I can't change a damn thing, can also be enjoyable. Difficult to find a good conversation though, when you can predict what will be said and how it will be said.

I've noticed people on this platform are often detached and unamused with all that madness going on in the world, busy being in control and creating their own lives. Plenty of folks working on new ideas; tech. It's quite fascinating. Need those trailblazers. Followers come later.

And that’s what I do too. Watch and observe… learn along the way. As you can learn so much more, when you just step one step back and see, truly “see” both sides. 🤓

And that’s good, that there are still people busy creating new things. Very fascinating indeed. Doing their own thing. Not worried about followers now. As it should be.
Who want to be an influencer nowadays. I surely don’t… nope 😉 hahaha

Some material will tell you to question everything; notice nobody ever questions that material...

This!

How to take over the world in three days? Fear.

Questions, questions, questions...

My favorite word is 'why?' even at my age. :D

So why did people let the world know how to take it over in a very short time?

Did people not realize the governments did not have to use chemical weapons? Or did they? but just the quiet kind?

Did anyone go out in the real world with open eyes and really look at what was happening to their world? Why were people okay with locking themselves inside?

Is Fear the weapon used to take over/end mankind as we know it?

So many questions one needs to ask their self before a second wave hits again.

:D

Great post...

It is good to ask yourself questions. Why am I doing this? That's a good one. What is the source of these thoughts? That's another good one to ask yourself, especially if you do find yourself becoming paranoid or afraid, for no real reason.

How? Is a good one as well. How can manipulation and mind bending used in news and information be considered a chemical weapon? Affects the chemical balance in the brain, triggering thought processes that open little passages in the mind, where thoughts can enter with ease and stick. Triggering fear and uncertainty; makes one alert. They pay closer attention and think less about their surroundings, focused mostly on what's directly in front of them. Something like that...

Those eyes see you as well. Would be nice if they'd stop staring and at least blink once in awhile...

Why do you want to stop Pfizer from making all the money in the world?! Think of the shareholders.

I need to stop them because once they have all the money in the world, it becomes worthless, and they'll be left standing there looking like assholes in front of all these sick, broke people, who can't afford their products. I am thinking of the shareholders.

We learn so many things by asking question. Sometimes, i don't ask question because I don't want to be embarrassed by those i think they know it. I sometimes ask privately but is not really easy. You have made some point here why we should ask to learn. I appreciate this post so much.

It's strange to me how society, all over the world, seems to be lacking confidence when it comes to asking. Some become so frustrated when asked a question, feeling insulted for some odd reason. It's so strange.

Honestly, even when you notice that your listener do not understand you are you said to him, ask question where you do not understand, he will say don't worry, if i have i will ask. It is so strange

Is the artwork from fractals??? I love the fish and frog one!

For two years it was suggested you'll die or become sick if you take a vaccine. For two years it was suggested you'll die or become sick if you don't take a vaccine.

And yet in the end, some died from the virus, and others died from the vaccine.

Others survived one, the other, or both, at least for now.

And of course the one so willing and generous to put the information together is too busy working on the next information packet to even notice any questions were asked

I've seen that on blogging platforms too. If people get a ton of replies, they don't like to respond to them :( ...

I was using the mirror tool split in four sections for the first two. If you turn the fish and frog one upside down, you get the same picture. It's still all produced/painted by hand from scratch.

Some died, yes. Some died inside.

And yes, the people are ignored quite often all over the internet. Of course if there are thousands of comments, you'd be there for a week talking and not getting anything else done. They should make a question section.

I know of at least one person here on Hive who would reply to every last one :) ... (Sorry for the late reply, unfortunately I'm not the one who would be able to handle thousands of comments!)

Wow, so frog and fish is hand painted??? That must have taken a lot of time 😲

Well one certainly can't produce digital art with their feet. The mirror tool mimics your actions in the other sections, which is a huge time saver. Still takes time though, yes. And attempting to make one character look like something else when flipped and mirrored is a challenge.

P.S. I don't really like the spam tokens cluttering and advertising under my posts.

Well one certainly can't produce digital art with their feet.

Very true, but from what I understand most of it is done on a machine from start to finish. It just seems more special somehow that it was begun on canvas or paper. But either way, it's in no way fast or easy.

Sorry, I didn't know you didn't like the tokens

Yes, digital art is produced on a computer. But you can't just think something and push a button. You must create it, by hand. There are several brushes and tools to use, by hand. Much like I'm typing this comment, by hand. I don't need a pen and paper to tell you this, I used a keyboard as a digital writing tool and got the same result.

The tokens are cool. I'm glad people have fun with them. Never been a fan of the spam comments they generate.

Definitely 🙌 That takes days to do. The only ones I've ever done completely from scratch are fractals. But I have done some work, with psd files and such.

Even the memes that I made a couple of years ago for a friend took hours to get just right, because of adding original art to it, and making sure everything looked good. But I'll admit, sometimes I was off, and he wasn't shy about saying so 🤣

Hopefully soon the other tokens will try what Pizza is doing, on minimizing the number of replies

It does take time. I've been working all day trying to finish some new ones for my next post, which I started a few days ago already. A few hours at a time. Can be tedious but I enjoy it.

Earlier today when I tried to write a post, I didn't write a post. Has that ever happened to you?

I needed to start the next edition of my contest, but first had several things that demanded my attention, and when it was done, just felt like sleeping :(

Upon looking at that red art up there I immediately thought it was a lovely vagina. Then I reasoned myself away from that, having decided that noname would not paint a vagina, lovely or no. I like that third eye in it. I can't decide if you are supposed to stare at it in order to distract you from the mysteries of the tissue-paper crinkled folds in the background, or if staring at it bring the background to the forefront. There is a question for this comment, I suppose. Couldn't possibly comment on this post without a question.

Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid is in there, btw. Seemed like something that someone should mention.

No, no. I'd never secretly slip in a vagina and especially not with a post like this. The goal with much of the imagery was to suggest confusion rather than opening the pathways and triggering desired thoughts directly. Much like the first sentence of this comment. Does it mean this, or does it mean that? The more I look the more I see but it's not saying anything to me, it's my own thoughts drifting. Something like that...

The lines were more of a direct hit though, suggesting a bad addiction or something that seems okay but won't take people very far in life.

Not sure if I want to tackle that tissue question right now.

And yes. I see it too. lol

Oh good, no vagina. I'm just going to wipe that whole vagina idea from mind and start fresh...nope. It's too late. It is permanently a vagina to me. Oh well.

I could have mentioned directly how people will skim, not fully comprehend, yet share anyway, and present themselves as being informed. For instance it's no secret consumers share headlines; studying your response I'd say that's where you got most of your information from.

I didn't just write about a topic here. It's a demonstration as well.

Don't think about the Eiffel Tower. And already you are thinking about it, you can't do anything about it, for a fraction the image of the Eiffel Tower flares up in your mind's eye. When messages are marked with a "not", it's as if the "not" doesn't exist. But the word behind it does. Do not think of death. Voila, you think of death. Don't ask questions. Already you think, why not?

I grew up with disaster messages since childhood. The news was always full of them. Whether it was Chernobyl or nuclear waste disposal, Pershing missiles, acid rain, dioxane in shampoo, the hole in the ozone layer, forest dieback, fish dieback, the melting of the polar ice cap, and always nature documentaries showing beautiful pictures from Africa or the rainforest or some other region, always with the message that "this could end soon", that "if man continues like this, he will have destroyed everything.

Already in the 70s there was an oil crisis, in Germany the motorways were at a standstill. There is always a peak this and peak that. Oh, and not to forget the miserable labour market. As a teenager who was supposed to choose a profession, I was full of fear that I wouldn't be able to get an apprenticeship. "Is the pension safe?" was a catchphrase of my time. I wrote in my childhood diary how bad the world was and was always afraid when everything in the media called for fear. The "violence is on the rise." Also a popular phrase and right now you often read that "parts of the population are becoming radicalised" and that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution is watching them. They "could endanger the state". blablabla

Mark Twain is reported to have once said that "the worst things in my life actually never happened" and I agree.

Man seems fascinated by death and disease and the more pleasant his life, the more he fears the unpleasant, no?

But I have a question that leaves the noble side line from which to look at things. Since the whole affair came into the world two years ago with a sledgehammer, demanding of all people alike a "Submit!", loud, commanding, warning, would it not have been far more surprising if nothing at all had been done to counter this loud force? Wouldn't it be the strangest thing of all if all people had unanimously tended towards the same result, the same realisation? Doesn't the loudness demand that people respond in the same volume?

I think when it gets too loud, all one hears is noise. Envision a stadium; sports arena. Everyone is talking, can hear the hum or the buzz; don't know what anyone is saying. All you know is they're saying something. It would be strange if there was a goal and nobody cheered; a bad play by the opposing team and nobody booed. Since it's so normal, silence would say more.

I can't see society coming together with quiet confidence and discipline though. So when the space rock is on its way, the world will just try to yell it away.

My question to you has been whether it would not have been more than strange - that is, highly improbable - if there had been no backlash given the dramatic fixation on the issue.

Can I interpret your answer as "yes", it would have been strange?

Apart from your or indeed my view of an appropriate response, I find that of others, the loud ones, understandable, although I don't necessarily share it. A more wait-and-see position that does not support either fearful attitude is probably preferable, as so often in life, things turn out to be less dramatic in retrospect.

Nevertheless, my personal experience has been that the extremism that spread like wildfire across the world in 2020 did not even begin to listen to cautious or thoughtful voices, and hence the reaction of people who did not know how to make themselves heard other than, for example, taking to the streets or writing provocative posts.

The stadium is a good comparison in this respect because two fan bodies meet there, each supporting a different team. The cheers are always for one's own team, never for the opposing team, and the fan blocks are separated from each other. If the fans were to remain silent in the event of a goal for their own team, this would have a very disconcerting effect, true.

It's not the crowd's fault that you can't hear what's being said because of all the noise. The cacophony is not something you can blame for existing. There is always the possibility of contemplation and of withdrawing from the din or picking out individual voices that you perceive as reasonable or worthy of attention. In fact, you have no choice if you don't want to be infected by hysteria or excitement.

Communication is only possible between two people with the intensity one would wish for in a conversation that is accompanied by interest. But the way I shout at the crowd, nobody hears me, right.

I don't share that people would try to yell away a space rock (LOL, funny imagination), because people are never unanimous, they are not the Borg, they are disunited. While the loud ones yell, the other work on different things and they are quietly confident but that's why you don't hear them. That can be seen as positive, because total unanimity is firstly impossible and secondly - as I said - would have something exceedingly strange about it.
