Tracking Mount Papandayan With My Friend

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are well. Early February 2024, my friends and I tracked to Mount Papandayan, Garut, West Java. It didn't take long, we tracked to the mountain. The trip was short, it took us 4 hours from the Jakarta location. This is my second time there. The first time I went there, I camped there. Two days and one night

Something that surprised me: at the top of the mountain, there were several sums. The number is quite a lot. That's the reason we only brought drinking water. Even, at the top there are tent rentals if you want to camp. Is it tiring to climb the mountain peak? Quite tiring, but this is not my first time tracking.

I will tell you what I found. First, Mount Papadayan had an eruption in 1772 which destroyed 40 villages and killed 3000 people. Does that still exist? There is a smell of sulfur around the mountain. There are also several places that I can't pass because of the strong smell of sulfur. I forgot which areas we couldn't pass.

According to historical records, Mount Papandayan has erupted several times. The last one was in 2002. There are beautiful spots that we passed, such as the Dead Forest and Edelweiss Peak. It is quite beautiful and a photo target for mountain climbers. Luckily, when we were tracking, the weather was not too hot. It's just that when we went down, the forest came down quite heavily.

On Mount Papandayan, there are several beautiful flora. Among them, are the Suagi Tree, Pusa, Saninten, Kihujan, and others. It's just that, during the tracking, I couldn't find any. Another thing, he said several animals were roaming around. Starting from wild boars, pangolins, deer, and others. Mount Papandayan is a friendly mountain for beginners.

I want to tell you about the crater on Mount Papandayan. This area is still very active with an area of about 10 hectares. This area is also known as the Dead Forest. The dead forest is a very exotic area, there are views of dry trees and that is what climbers are looking for.

Then, where is the camping location? The camping location is in the Pondok Saladah area which has an area of about 8 hectares with an altitude of 2,288 meters above sea level. There is also a river that continues to flow every year. It's just that in this area there is a hot spring with a fairly high sulfur content so it makes the skin itchy.

Until now, I still feel the beautiful morning on Mount Papandangan. Beautiful scenery and lots of green plants. Pollution is very far from the area. I feel like I want to go back there. Enjoy the morning there again. It's just that, Indonesia still has many beautiful areas that I need to visit.

How did I get there? Of course, we rented a car from Jakarta. We brought some food and drinks. For the entrance fee, I forgot again. Maybe IDR 2,000,000 for our total expenses during the departure. Starting from food, car rental, and others. How, is my story exciting enough? Look forward to my next story.
