BREAKING NEWS: Tanak and Neuville signed new multy-year contract with Hyundai WRC team
Hi, friends!
It's nothing surprising to see that Hyundai World Rally Team wants the best drivers on the market for their motorsport activities because they invest so much money into this WRC project-
They also obligated to the FIA and WRC promoter another three years loop with the new hybrid generation of WRC1 cars.
Richard Millener, team principal of M-Sport, told when I was talking to him that Hyundai and Toyota have the 3x budget for drivers only as they have for a whole season with everything included.
We are talking here about the budget of 50 to 100m€ per season and that huge in my opinion.
So Seb Ogier leaves the sport at the end of this season and he won't be on the market for a full 2022 season. That means one empty seat at Toyota and there is lots of drivers who would like to step in.
There are some other names nor sure of their status. Third car at Hyundai share Dani Sordo and Craig Breen. They are both good but Sordo has three WRC wins and he is probably one of he most consistent drivers in WRC while Breen doesn't have wins and he has little history of crashes. I don't remember when was the last time Sordo crashed out. That's his quality and he also helped the team to win the manufacturer's crown last season.
I think that Hyundai did the great job retaining Tanak and Neuville in their team because they are looking into the bright future.
