Mentorship - All About Hive Growth

Three weeks ago, we had a live session (heart-to-heart community hangout) with the hive learners community. It's been a great initiative by this noble community since last year where the members share their thoughts through voice in our discord server over a given topic for the day. If you are an HL member and you haven't been joining that live session, then you have been missing a lot. Every Monday evening by 7:30 pm Nigeria time is the hangout, so plan to attend next week if interested.

So we discussed mentorship on that day, I was on stage to share my story/my thoughts on the sub-topics likewise others, and today, I am moved to share with you here on hive as well. So without further Ado, let's get to the questions and my answers to each one of them.

What were your thoughts about Hive before you joined.

Honestly, I thought it was not something possible to earn from. I never knew of any Blockchain that someone can write and earn from it. The whole info I was getting looked so strange and at a point, I stopped processing the information. I practically paused every conversation that relates to hive for months until one day, my cousin's brother told me how he paid his sibling's school fees through his earning on hive, then I gave him another listening ear.

Who brought you into Hive, and what was it like when they were telling you about it?

As I mentioned above, my cousin's brother "kenechukwu97" brought me here. It sounded so untrue to me and at a point, I thought it was a Ponzi scheme 🤦🤦
I couldn't imagine just earning that much by writing on a platform without putting money first. Everything was unclear like I was in a strange land, I was lost in the imagination...you wouldn't blame me, would you? Lol

Have you onboarded people before? What was it like? Do you think you can onboard people?

Having been to this platform and seen how amazing it is, I didn't hesitate to inform others about it as well. So yes, I have onboarded 4 people so far, two of them have been active and trying their best while the other two couldn't stay. I'm so proud of the ones that has been here because the building stage isn't easy, it can be demoralizing without support but they are being consistent while building their account gradually.

Currently, I have two other people ready to join but we have been in the preparatory stage, educating them on things they need to know about hive before creating their account.

If you were to advise a newbie just joining Hive, what advice would you give to them?

First, I will love to make them understand that hive is not a get-rich-quick scheme. If you join with the mindset of cashing out big, you might be disappointed after your introduction post as you "may" not be lucky with the high upvotes many do receive in their intro post. A lot of people back out after seeing zero or little upvotes in their subsequent posts, this might be due to the mindset you came in with. So I advise you to see hive as a platform to add knowledge to yourself by reading from other authors, building your account gradually, and earning in the process. Making money your priority might throw one off balance.

Just like I mentioned during the live session, being in hive is like a farmer who planted a seed, and he keeps watering the seed until it grows into a plant ☘️🌵 and he keeps adding manure, and removing weeds to ensure a good harvest.

My final advice to newbies is not to joke with engagement, it's one secret to little success in hive. Build healthy relationships, do not compare yourself with another account, work at your pace, be original(no plagiarism), post in the right community, and persevere, surely you will smile as time progresses*.

I hope someone get value from this post today ❤️

Thanks for your time on my blog 👍

Your cousin´s brother gave you a life-changing opportunity and here you are, doing amazingly each day. You have always been working without relenting and it is always paying off for you. Though it might be difficult to start from scratch. I wouldn´t want to blame those joining for the first time, but it can favour one if he or she has the right mindset and not coming to earn alone. If one decides to come to make friends and get improved, there´s no way such a person would want to give up because he or she isn´t here for the monetary value alone.

I wasn't referring to you Amy 😃
Kene onboarded both of us nah, I wasn't the one that onboarded you directly. However, I have been onboarding others since then, some stayed and some couldn't stay

Yeah...I must confess hive blog is not easy at all...but is good and nothing good comes easy(these are my key word) that keeps me pressing on . even wen I'm exhausted from lectures, coming back home late from classes some times from 7am-6pm and coming back home to baby sit my baby again, even at that I will still insist on making a post. There are beautiful content here as well. May be some day our hard work will pay off.

You have an interesting view about how Hive works and it's not a surprise because it's fairly obvious that you are getting it right in your activity level on the blockchain.

Consistency, patience, genuine interaction and quality content... Any newbie that can get this right from the onset will surely thrive on the blockchain.
