I woke up Saturday morning and...
Different people have different approaches to showing gratitude. My mom taught me right from my childhood stage to always express gratitude to people for any little favor I receive from them. I have held on to this habit till date; it has become a part of me, a lifestyle I cherish, and I usually also feel exceptionally good when someone expresses a heart of gratitude to me for any little effort or assistance I rendered to such a person.
I woke up on Saturday morning and found my husband in the kitchen....hmmm
It was an unusual experience. I did not see that aspect of him coming, but I felt good about the whole experience; at least he did something different.
I was surprised because he is not the kitchen type, and meeting him with an apron at that early hour on that day made me ask him several questions at the same time. It wasn't my birthday; I didn't give birth recently, and no one is celebrating anything among my kids. My husband does not like kitchen duties a bit, so you can see why I was surprised by his actions.
He kept me in suspense and kept cooking without asking for an assistant. When we were dating, I knew he always cooked for himself; he prefers that to buying food from restaurants as a way of saving money when he can. I was expecting that he would always assist me in the kitchen after our marriage, but it never happened. The only time he had assisted was when I gave birth, and he just did that for a short while. I love to have him in my kitchen. I tried convincing him for both of us to cook sometimes, but he never bought the idea. However, I didn't push further, even when I loved to.
So he was done cooking, and it was time for him to break the silence.
He served the food, invited me to the table, and began to appreciate my assistance to him so far as his helpmate. His words were so emotional; in fact, I shed tears as I couldn't control my emotions. It has been a rough year for him, but in every ups and downs, I have stood in the gap, filling every vacuum created and giving him emotional support to the best of my ability. To me, I felt it was my responsibility to do it; I didn't see that I was supporting him since he is the head of the family, but he sees it that way. I felt we are teammates in this marriage, and it's my responsibility to take over every family need, especially on his rough days. Obviously, he has been taking note of every bit of my actions ever since he has been through some hard times, and he thought it was right for him to appreciate me. He may not have gifted me a car or any other tangible item you can think of, but this particular action means everything to me. I felt like a queen on that "Saturday morning*. I felt encouraged, I felt loved, and I felt motivated to keep doing whatever I have been doing for our family.
It was a nice memory I won't forget in a hurry, as he reminded me through his actions to always be grateful for everything and express a heart of gratitude to anyone extending a helping hand to me.
Thank you so much for reading through.

Wow! You're on a roll with your Hive achievements. Keep pushing yourself to new levels @nkemakonam89.
Wow.... Nothing beats appreciation regardless of how little it is.
It makes us know that our sacrifices are seen and even though we don't want to take glory for doing them, we still intrinsically wants to be praised and it makes us go edge over heels to do more
You're a strong woman I know... Keep Been good
You are totally right my dear. An act of appreciation should be embraced by everyone. No wonder when we thank God for all he do for us, he will continue to do more😍
I appreciate your visit
Thank you
You're welcome as always
I go love for this kind love o. Hahaha but seriously though, sometimes we do things unexpected. Men are like that. I guess something sparked in him that day and he decided to do the cooking. It's a reminder that sometimes men can show a part of them to the people they love.
Hehehe...this kind of love oo 😂
Indeed, something sparked in him which I was curious to know but he said I shouldn't bother..lol
Well, the feeling was amazing..he took me unaware, all for good 😊👍
