Her Father's Desire

Sandra loved watching her little sister, Alex, play. Sometimes, she will play with her, but she mostly enjoys watching her with her toys, which consist mainly of pirate toys. Alex, in her innocent mind, would always say that she would be a pirate when she grew up. She is going to be a captain and sail around the world. She loves adventures!
But now, as Sandra sat watching her sister, she was actually lost in thoughts. She can see her future being tossed in the air.

She has always wanted to be a dietitian. She really wants to educate people on health-related matters, having seen how many people suffer from health issues. She would love to enlighten people on the need to eat healthy meals, not just sweet ones.

But here was her dad, who disagrees with her choice of career. He said that he already has a career for her, which is what she must be; A Banker!
This is not in any way related to what she desires to be, but her dad wasn't ready to change his mind. That was the first time she saw her dad speak so strictly. "It's either you study banking or get ready to sponsor your education on that stupid course of yours," he said.

There is no doubt that she admires bankers, but she didn't want to be one of them. Her passion and interest are in the career she chose for herself, and it baffles her why her father was against it when he was meant to support and encourage her. Trying to make her study his own chosen career when, obviously, this is her future they are talking about despite all the efforts made by her mom and herself to make the Dad accept her choice, he remained adamant.
Sandra on the other hand isn't ready to give up on her dreams, nor does she have the money to sponsor her schooling. In the same way, she wasn't ready to take up banking as a career. She haszero interest in it! But she isn't going to let herself get swayed by her father's desire. She has no idea how she is going to do it, but She is going to pursue her dream. She is going to contribute immensely to the health of a lot of people. She is going to be a dietitian and find fulfillment practicing her desired job. At last, when her Dad saw her determination to pursue her dream job, he succumbed and gave her all the support she needed. She was doing well as a dietician at one of the best-known hospitals in the state. Her father was happy to see how her daughter is making huge progress in her profession and working without struggling. He promised himself not to choose a profession for any of his children but to only guide and support them.

Parents should allow the children choose their career so that can be happy with their life. Glad your dad finally see reasons to support your education. Interesting with good ending.

Most of the time, the career a child is forced to take on usually ends up being the wrong choice of career. Thankfully, Sandra's father had a change of heart which in most cases is rare.
Your story was a great read.

The power of determination helped Sandra achieve her dreams even though she didn't get validation of it from her father initially.

If she had bend to her father's wish immediately, it would have been the end of her dream as a dietitian.

That kind of situation appeared many times in front of my eyes. And I have seen many times sacrifying their dream. Thank god that her father supported her at last.

It is good that the father changed his attitude - guiding and supporting children is an important role of all parents. There are lessons to learn from your story.

Indeed momo... guiding and supporting children is part of our roles as parents and not to force a child into doing what he or she does not have interest in
