Île-de-France beers! 🇫🇷| #BeerSaturday [Eng][Esp]

When I visit my lifelong friends who live in and around Paris, I always find myself in search of a few beers to share with them, because everyone usually ends up choosing a bottle of wine, which, for health reasons, I can't drink.

So, I was in Versailles when I got invited to spend the afternoon at a friend's house. I happened to be passing in front of a Carrefour Express and went in to browse the beers they had in the fridge, not really expecting much, although to my surprise, I got several choices from local craft breweries, so I stocked up enough to get me through the afternoon.

When I arrived at my destination, the reunion between friends was not the only pleasant thing, but also the variety of snacks they had set out to munch on while we talked. Starting with a variety of cheeses including the wonderful Comté, pates, hams and of course, the essential baguette that goes with everything.

Cuando visito a mis amigos de toda la vida, que están en París y sus alrededores, siempre me encuentro en búsqueda de algunas cervezas para compartir con ellos, porque lo común es que todos terminen eligiendo una botella de vino, que por temas de salud, yo no puedo beber.

Así pues, estaba en Versalles cuando me invitaron a pasar la tarde en casa de unos amigos. Justamente pasaba frente a un Carrefour Express al que entré a curiosear las cervezas que tenían en la nevera, sin muchas expectativas realmente, aunque para mi sorpresa, conseguí varias opciones de cervecerías artesanales locales, así que me abastecí lo suficiente para pasar la tarde.

Cuando llegué a mi destino, el reencuentro entre amigos no fue lo único agradable, sino también la variedad de snacks que habían dispuesto para ir picando mientras hablábamos. Comenzando por una variedad de quesos que incluía el maravilloso Comté, pates, jamones y por supuesto, la imprescindible baguette para acompañarlo todo.

Blanche - Brasserie Parisis 2,45 €

Among the beers I bought for that day, I decided to start by trying the wheat beer, I had a long time without eating and it always makes me remember that, in Germany, I was once told that this was the best beer to have for breakfast or to prepare the stomach before eating. I'm not entirely sure if it's true, but the thing is that they are light and the taste is usually pleasant to my palate all times.

This particular one is called Blanche is 4.1% alcohol and is brewed just outside of Paris, by Brasserie Parisis and stands out mostly for being slightly spicy, the standard wheat beer flavor is there, but there is a note of tartness that stands out a bit more.

The color was very faint, although I have no evidence to prove it, between the chatting and the reunion, I was totally distracted from the idea of pouring it in a glass and studying its characteristics a bit more. I was just having a great time.

De las cervezas que compré para ese día, decidí comenzar probando la de trigo, tenía mucho rato sin comer y siempre se me hace gracia recordar que, en Alemania, me contaron una vez que esta, era la mejor cerveza para desayunar o preparar el estómago antes de comer. No estoy totalmente segura de que sea cierto, pero la verdad es que son ligeras y el sabor suele ser agradable a mi paladar todo el tiempo.

Esta en particular se llama Blanche tiene 4,1% de alcohol y es fabricada en las afueras de París, por la Brasserie Parisis y destaca sobre todo por ser ligeramente especiada, el sabor estándar de las cervezas de trigo está ahí, pero hay una nota de acidez que sobresale un poco más.

El color era muy tenue, aunque no tengo pruebas para demostrarlo, entre la charla y el reencuentro, me distraje totalmente de la idea de servirla en un vaso y estudiar un poco más sus características. Es que me lo estaba pasando muy bien.

Bière OX Blonde - Brasserie Artisanale OX 2,80 €

The second option I had on hand to try also suffered the same oversight as the previous one, being among friends I usually drink beers straight from the bottle, it is something I fall back on just not thinking too much, so after finishing it, it was that I realized that photographic gap I would have.

In this case it is an award-winning beer from earlier this year, the Bière OX Blonde which has 5% alcohol. It is brewed by the Brasserie Artisanale OX in the town of Marcoussis.

This beer is an English Pale Ale with a very perceptible bitterness and herbaceous flavors. It is light to drink, but not to drink several in a row in my opinion, at the end I found it a bit aggressive, but it is probably because it did not pair so well with what I was eating.

La segunda opción que tenía a mano para probar también sufrió el mismo descuido que la anterior, estando entre amigos normalmente tomo las cervezas directamente de la botella, es algo a lo que recurro sin pensar mucho, por lo que después de terminarla, fue que me di cuenta de ese vacío fotográfico que tendría.

En este caso se trata de una cerveza premiada este mismo año, la Bière OX Blonde que cuenta con 5% de alcohol. Es elaborada por la Brasserie Artisanale OX en la población de Marcoussis.

Esta cerveza es una English Pale Ale que tiene un amargor muy perceptible y se destacan en ella sabores herbáceos. Es ligera de beber, pero no para tomar varias seguidas en mi opinión, al final me resultaba un poco agresiva, pero seguramente es porque no maridaba tan bien con lo que estaba comiendo.

Bière OX IPA - Brasserie Artisanale OX 2,95 €

To finish the tasting, so to speak, I told myself that I could try a little harder and pour at least one of the beers, to get a visual of the content, although after taking a couple of pictures, I got distracted again and didn't manage to measure much detail either. That's what comes from being entertained!

It was time to refuel with baguette, so while I cut some bread, I poured the Bière OX IPA from the same brewery as the previous one. In this case we're talking 7% alcohol in one of the several IPAs they brew, this one in particular has a strong floral tendency.

I think I could not have chosen better among the IPAs I had seen in the supermarket, and I say this with great certainty because this style of beer is not one of my favorites, however I liked this one very much, it was very pleasant to drink, the acidity and bitterness are very balanced and I found myself enjoying it much more than I would have imagined.

Para terminar la degustación, por llamarle de alguna manera, me dije que podría esforzarme un poco más y servir al menos una de las cervezas, para tener una visual del contenido, aunque luego de hacer un par de fotos, me distraje nuevamente y tampoco logré medir mucho detalle. ¡Es lo que tiene estar entretenido!

Era momento de reabastecernos de baguette, así que mientras cortaba un poco de pan, me serví la Bière OX IPA de la misma cervecería que la anterior. En este caso hablamos de 7% de alcohol en una de las varias IPAs que elaboran, esta en concreto tiene una fuerte tendencia a lo floral.

Creo que no pude haber elegido mejor entre las IPAs que había visto en el supermercado, y lo digo con mucha seguridad porque este estilo de cervezas no es de mis preferidas, sin embargo esta me gusto mucho, era muy agradable de beber, la acidez y el amargor están muy equilibrados y me encontré disfrutándola mucho más de lo que hubiese imaginado.

I think that for having stocked up in passing through a supermarket, without much prior information at the time of choosing, the result of my selection was quite positive.

I had the opportunity to vary the style of beers I drank that afternoon, something I really like to do, and I was pleasantly surprised with the IPA. However, my favorite was the Blanche, the first ones I finished, it was the flavor I found more familiar perhaps, but I still enjoyed them all.

This time I leave with a better impression of the beers brewed in France, it's not the country's forte, but I like the idea that there are more options than the common mass-produced or imported brands, and above all that can be found as easily as it has happened to me, because in previous occasions I had to look for very specific stores to find a decent beer. Creo que para haberme abastecido de pasada por un supermercado, sin mucha información previa al momento de elegir, el resultado de mi elección fue bastante positivo.

Tuve la oportunidad de variar el estilo de cervezas que tomé esa tarde, algo que me gusta mucho hacer, y me llevé una grata sorpresa con la IPA. Sin embargo mi favorita fue la Blanche, las primeras que me acabé, era el sabor que encontraba mas familiar quizá, pero igual las disfruté todas.

Esta vez me voy con mejor sabor de boca en cuanto a las cervezas elaboradas en Francia, no es el fuerte del país, pero me gusta la idea de que haya más opciones que las marcas comunes de producción masiva o importadas, y sobre todo que se puedan encontrar tan fácilmente como me ha sucedido a mi, pues en ocasiones anteriores tuve que buscar tiendas muy concretas para dar con una cerveza decente. ¡Salud!
