They usually tell me that the girls I draw have details very similar to me, which is funny, it's not something I do on purpose, (but I usually use my face as a reference to practice). But well, this time I decided to use a model that is very different from my features and hair and eye color, the only thing we have in common is that we like to hold a pretty cat in our arms.

Process:

I resolved to do the sketch in about an hour, but there were a couple of details that I couldn't decide how to do like the clothes and the cat's face; the clothes of the girl in the reference image I didn't really like, so I had to rely on another image to make this sweater.

I realized that I made the forehead too wide so with the lasso tool I cut out the hair area and pushed it down so that her face would have a more proportionate size. When I started coloring I wasn't very clear about the style I wanted to achieve, I've always liked to see those drawings that have semi-realistic details but still keep an animated style, so I decided to try to do that in this drawing.

I thought the cat's fur would take me much longer to do, but in the end I found that by using the finger tool and playing with the opacity of the brush I could make the fur look long and with a soft texture.

For the girl's face, I ended up giving more depth to her iris and added eyelashes to her eyes, I also started changing the color of the lines to tones that match the area they are outlining.

This was the final result, what do you think?
I do feel very happy with the result because I feel that I took a step forward with the style that I have been trying to do for so long, I still have a lot of practice and failed drawings ahead, but we must celebrate the small achievements that we feel we make.

Usualmente me dicen que las chicas que dibujo tienen detalles muy parecidos a mi persona, lo cual es curioso, no es algo que haga adrede, (pero sí suelo usar mucho mi cara como referencia para practicar). Pero bueno, en esta ocasión decidí usar una modelo que diste mucho de mis facciones y color de cabello y de ojos, lo único que tenemos en común es que nos gusta tener en brazos un gato bonito.

Proceso:

Resolví hacer el boceto en una hora más o menos, pero hubieron un par de detalles que no me decidía como hacer como la ropa y la cara del gato; la ropa de la chica de la imagen de referencia no me gustaba mucho, así que tuve que apoyarme de otra imagen para hacer este suéter.

Me di cuenta que la frente la hice muy amplia así que con la herramienta de lazo recorté el área del cabello y la empujé hacia abajo para que su rostro tuviera un tamaño más proporcionado. Cuando empecé a colorear no tenía muy claro el estilo que quería conseguir, siempre me ha gustado ver esos dibujos que tienen detalles semirrealistas pero que igual conservan un estilo animado, así que me decidí por intentar hacer eso mismo en este dibujo.

Pensé que el pelaje del gato me llevaría mucho más tiempo en hacer, pero al final descubrí que usando la herramienta de dedo y jugando con la opacidad del pincel podía lograr que el pelo se viera largo y con una textura suave.

Para el rostro de la chica, terminé por darle más profundidad a su iris y añadí pestañas a sus ojos, también empecé a cambiar el color de las líneas por tonos acordes con la zona que están contorneando.

Este fue el resultado final. ¿A ustedes qué les parece?
Yo sí me siento muy contenta con el resultado porque siento que di un paso adelante con el estilo que llevo tanto tiempo tratando de hacer, aún me queda mucha práctica y dibujos fallidos por delante, pero hay que celebrar los pequeños logros que sentimos que damos.
