São Pedro River

[EN] Hi everyone! Today I want to share a bit about my first camping trip with my friends by the river, known as Rio São Pedro, located in Jaceruba, in the Northwest region of Nova Iguaçu, the city where I live. It's an Environmental Protection Area (EPA) created to preserve the local ecosystem and promote environmental education. The Jaceruba EPA is crucial for maintaining the São Pedro River basin, an important river for the region and great for recreational activities.

Choosing the camping spot wasn’t easy, as it would be the first time we would camp alone, in my case, without my parents, with whom I had camped a few times when I was a kid. Among all the beautiful suggested places to camp, we chose one where my mom spent a large part of her childhood with my grandparents and uncles during their vacations, so the place has a special meaning for our family. With the location decided, we packed our backpacks, met at the train that would take us closer to the camping site, and set off.

Upon arriving in Jaceruba, we went straight to the waterfall, dropped our things on the ground, and the first thing we did was jump into the water to celebrate that we had chosen an amazing place for this first experience with friends. Right after the cold waterfall bath, we set out to set up our tents and organize our things.

There, we met a local family who helped us with water, ice, mattresses to sleep on, and even a delicious spaghetti Bolognese for the first day's lunch. We had three wonderful days with people I care about. It was unforgettable! We enjoyed the natural landscapes, the waterfalls, and the clear river, explored trails, and soaked in the peace and tranquility of the place. Jaceruba is a true natural treasure that needs to be visited and protected, creating amazing memories and teaching the importance of environmental conservation.

[PT] Oi, pessoal!

Curtimos as paisagens naturais, as cachoeiras e o rio cristalino, exploramos trilhas e aproveitamos a paz e a tranquilidade do lugar.

This is me after waking up. It was still morning, and it was cold that day.

This photo was taken with my GoPro Hero 7 Black. This is Renan, one of the friends who accompanied me on this trip.

If you like this content, I'll post about other camping trips to waterfalls and deserted beaches. Thank you all!

Obrigado, galera!
