How would you describe Splinterlands?
What is your elevator pitch?
I asked ChatGPT to describe splinterlands.
In Splinterlands, players can earn in-game currency, called Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), by participating in tournaments and winning matches. These DEC can then be used to purchase new cards, or they can be traded on the game's marketplace for other cryptocurrency.
One of the unique features of Splinterlands is that it utilizes the Hive blockchain. This allows for the creation of a decentralized and transparent marketplace for the game's in-game assets. It also allows for the use of smart contracts, which ensure that all trades and purchases are secure and fair.
Another important aspect of Splinterlands is the concept of "card leveling." As players use a card in battle, it earns experience points which can be used to level up the card. A leveled-up card will have improved stats and abilities, making it a more powerful addition to the player's collection.
In addition to the in-game economy, Splinterlands also has a thriving community of players and enthusiasts. The game has a dedicated subreddit and Discord channel where players can discuss strategies, trade tips, and connect with other players.
Overall, Splinterlands is a unique and engaging blockchain game that offers players the chance to earn cryptocurrency while they play. Its use of the Hive blockchain and smart contract technology ensures a fair and transparent in-game economy, while the card leveling system adds an extra layer of depth and strategy to the gameplay. With a thriving community and regular tournaments and events, there's always something new to discover in the world of Splinterlands.
I have to say that the bot nailed the description.
The only problem with a bot is that it can describe the facts but it doesn't have any emotion about it. Zero nuance or creative liberty when it's creating content.
If I was to describe the game to somebody it wouldn't be in those basic terms or be so matter of fact about it.
I would say that splinterlands is a mini eco-system in itself. A small sample size of the real world. People of all different races and religions playing the game to enjoy it, earn from it, fight over it and try to make it succeed.
IT's a card game in the most basic terms but that is only a fraction of the game itself. Buying cards, selling, deck building, profit making, economics, discord fights, temper tantrums, new developments, fomo, battles, guilds, crypto, future plans.....
It's more than just a card game and then end result of all of these factors is who can beat my six cards on the field.
So complicated and then so simple in the same breath.
ChatGPT describes the game in it's most basic form. How the game plays.
Players describe the game in terms of the bigger picture. What the game consists of from their perspective and the social element that is built into a gaming community like splinterlands has. The AI can't describe the connections that we have built with other players over the past four years.
It doesn't know about the rivalries that we have built up against certain users. some of the rage quits. Some of the success stories.
A game like this is more than jus the sum of it's parts. It becomes something living and breathing. A source of income in some countries. A source of entertainment in others. For me it is part of my future as an investment.
If you haven't played Splinterlands.
If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.
Cards worth a few cents now will have a much higher value in the future as the print runs out. We have a strong community and seen this happen every time as it grows with the game.

Interesting. On the social media part, ChatGPT didn't find it relevant to mention Twitch. Hmm, was Splinterlands TV created after 2021? I believe that's the cutoff year for ChatGPT's knowledge base.
How would I describe Splinterlands depends on the year. Splinterlands changed a lot in the previous few years.
Splinterlands in and around 2019: One of my favorite video games. I often play it.
Splinterlands in and around 2023: Too frustrating. I very rarely play it.

I think the card leveling part is wrong though. The level up card comes from burned cards and not from using the card more often. Besides that, I think the description is good.

Thanks for sharing! Each one will describe it with a different feeling than a bot that only picks up technical terms.
