Quest for Stoken Game - My Experience

Hello to members of Skate community and a special mention to the sponsors and organizers of the quest for stoken game review. This is a link to the contest which is still open for those that want to join.

Quest for Stoken is a 2D game developed by GAME DAO and Skatehive. The aim of the developers is to have it integrated with hive so it becomes a play to earn project. Obviously, this is my first time playing the game and for someone who does not play a lot of games, I was impressed with this game. You will get more reviews as I show you my first time playing the quest for stoken game.

To get access to the game, I visited stoken.quest. The homepage of the game loaded and I had to press my spacebar key to continue.

The game launched and being my first time, I had to get myself familiarized with the controls of the game. It was easy getting to know the keys and their actions because the developers did a great job. As I moved, there were instructions in the game that helped me know what the keys are used for.

The Controls Of Quest for Stoken.

To move forward, use the forward arrow key or D.

To move backward, use the back arrow key or A.

To jump, use the space bar.

To duck, use the down arrow key.

To double jump or jump higher, use the space bar twice.

To use your shield, press Z on your keyboard.

To use your sword, press the shift key.

To use the shield, press Z.

To light the bonfire and for action on objects like wallets, press X.

To return to the homepage, press R on your keyboard.

I soon realized while playing that pressing the shift key five times activates the sticky keys which made fighting with the monsters hard. I sought help and disabled the sticky keys function in settings.

Going On The Quest.

I moved forward from the starting point, jumped around a bit, was able to unlock wallets for coins and made my way to the first monster.

After fighting my first monster, my life reduced from the attacks and I realized I gained 50 points which made me happy.

I continued my quest till I got somewhere that seemed like a dead end. I saw an instruction to press up and when I did, it read "there's a UFO somewhere but you have to jump". A quick search on google suggested UFO has to do with aliens and so I thought I was going to meet aliens next.

I jumped but I died. I tried a number of times and kept dying. I even tried double jumping all to no avail.

So, I started again after a number of tries and when I got there this time I came with speed and double jumped. Guess what? It worked.

I finally managed to Jump and was taken to the UFO

I moved forward till I met my second monster.

I fought this monster and got defeated a couple of times. Some pin like bullets were fired towards me which helped the monster defeat me.

I kept trying till I defeated the monster. I did this by ducking and I realized it was easier to defeat the monster. Getting past the water was the next problem. It was game over for me.

I managed to get past this stage but I kept dying. Poor me.

My Thoughts On Quest for Token.

• The graphics are not bad in my opinion for a 2D game.
• The music is loud at first but when you listen to it for a while, it grows in you.
• I like that the controls are embedded in the game which makes it easy for a newbie like myself to get used to the game.
• I don't like that the shift key is for fighting because it activates the sticky keys. It makes fighting difficult.
• I couldn't find anywhere to change the keys which are bad because I would have like to change some keys.
• The life easily depletes and I would have liked for it to last a bit longer.
• There is no pause function which makes it difficult to take a break from the game.

Aside my defeat, I really enjoyed playing the Quest for Stoken game. For someone who is not a game person, I did not regret playing this. I am sure by the time the game is fully released, these minor things will be addressed and I would be a full time gamer :)
