Love vs. Stability: The Balancing Act

(Edited)

My question for the day is, when has love ever put food on the table? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge lover girl and I love love, but I also love being financially stable. As Davido said,’ love is sweet oo, when money enter love is sweeter’. At this juncture, it’s safe to end my post here but let’s dive deeper.

Gone were the days when our parents and ancestors married for love, lived happily and raised happy kids in love and comfort. In todays world, the story is different. Let’s not even look far, take just normal boyfriend and girlfriend relationships for instance. It’s now a transactional business as @yahuzah will say. One is in for the money and the other is in for the sex. And the funny part is , it has really grown to become a normal thing to the extent that parents are sacking their daughters to go and stay over at their boyfriends houses.

I’d like to believe that everyone has his reason for doing what they do but one thing I’ve come to realize is that, most people who date for other reasons aside love were raised on survival and not love. We all love money and other material things and it’s totally okay to want those thing in a relationship if both parties are not demanding it like it’s their right. If it’s in the form of a gift, that’s fine. We all deserve good things. People raised in love see things this way and they go into relationships because they love the other person but those raised on survival go into relationships strictly to satisfy their needs. So, I’d say this issue we are facing stemmed from our individual upbringing.

Now, it’s really hard to come by genuine love because everyone is either scared or has trust issues. The few people who are not scared and have no trust issues have also been captured by others, so now, we are left with the remaining broken people. I know of this lady who married her boyfriend who wasn’t rich hoping to grow together with him because she loved him but guess what, less than a year into the marriage and this guy was already cheating. Imagine a poor man cheating on you, I’d rather die than make that happen.

I always say it’s better to cry in a private jet than in a public bus. Sometimes we are all not destined to be loved in our lives. What if the love of your life is money? At this point, I know that the love of my life is money because once my account balance isn’t having so many zeros, I fall into depression. If I am able to get a man who loves me genuinely and is also rich, that’s a good deal for me but if I’m not able to get that, I’d rather marry a rich man and be financially stable and comfortable than go for a poor man who will make me suffer. I don’t want to say men are evil, even though some are and same applies to women. You just have to find your demon and learn to tame them.

Love doesn’t put food on the table, money does and we should all know this by now. There are so many things we should consider before settling down aside love. Love forms just a portion of marriage or relationships. So, go in for what makes you happy. As for me, financial stability over love everyday. After all, who love help?

You said it all sis💯
For me personally, Id rather Prefer an hustler guy to a poor man. Its no offense, but there are so many things to love out for before settling down and I doubt majority in this dispensation knows that

Right, money is good love conquers all things. in the case of relationship when there's money it's better but at this time one has to be sure if that's best place to be because money can drive you crazy beyond ur imagination so u need to invite wisdom also into this relationship UNLESS it's genuine love 💕

That’s very true. Money without wisdom is a waste because you wouldn’t even know how to manage the money you have.

After all, who love help o, my sister...😂😂
Throw it in the mud, please. Let's make that money.
I'm not saying you have to be rich rich, but just sha have potential of being rich with your hardwork and all. And sometimes even that won't be enough in the long run. Abeg abeg.

I was just picturing the reaction on your face while you were writing this😂

For me, love and money go hand in hand; you can't choose one over the other.
