Let's Talk Music

Being a lover of music , there’s no day I don’t listen to my favourite songs. Sometime ago I decided to go a month without music and I almost lost my life after two weeks.😂 It was more like I was having serious withdrawal symptoms up to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore.

I’m probably one of the few ladies you’d meet who has a weird taste in music. My choice of songs changes almost everyday and I’d like to believe my mood plays a huge part in this. Some years ago, I was a lover of dancehall, thanks to my friends. I loved dancehall so much because I just related with it. And then all of a sudden I’m listening to sad songs and I’m like what happened to me.😂

I’m also one weird person because tell me why I hate it when I find others listening to the same songs as me. So, there’s this girl living in the same house with me and she’s more like my next door neighbour. Guys, tell me why anytime I play my songs, I come home the next day to hear this girl playing the same songs. Being the petty person that I am, I delete my whole music album and create a new playlist.😂 One day I will have to sit her down for us to talk about her habits.

Speaking of my favourite song, I wouldn’t say I really have one that is constant since I stated earlier on that my choice of music changes all the time. Recently though, I have magically made my way back to afrobeats and I think favourite song at this point would be from this genre. Funny enough, it’s the whole plot twist of this song that makes me love it more.

Stronger by Young John

When this song first came out, I loved it because of the whole beat and everything. I thought it was about a girl cos I’ve seen how people are shipping Young John and Davido’s cousin Nikos living and I think they’re cute. So, here I was thinking he sang the song for her but guess what? I was wrong!

I watched the music video a week ago and I was shocked to realise the song was actually for his mom. Cos from the video, I came to understand that his mom supported him throughout his endeavours in life and now that he has made it, she’s no more. It seems he lost his mom at an early age and he was taken in ky his aunty but he still felt his moms presence in his life. So basically this artiste is expressing his heartbreak because his mom didn’t live to enjoy the fruits of her labor. This immediately gave me a different view to the whole song but that still doesn’t stop me from jamming to it every minute. Even though it’s meant to be sad, it doesn’t really give a sad vibe.

So, I’d say my favourite song for now would be Stronger by Young John until I come across another song that will blow my mind away. Peace!
