Grocery Secrets, Cooking Hacks, and Kitchen Moments
This might probably come as a surprise to you but I’d say it anyways. I didn’t learn how to cook until I was around senior high school. Weird right? Growing up, I was more of the book kid. I didn’t like to watch Tv or run around with the other kids. You’d always find me in my room buried in a book all the time. I had a whole library in my room and my mom was always mad that I didn’t come out to help when she was cooking.
At that time, I didn’t see any use for that until one day our parents traveled and my sister and I decided to prepare spaghetti. At the end of the day, we had to throw the food out cos it turned out watery.😂 The next day, I started helping in the kitchen and it’s all history now. Today, you can call me a chef if you wish to cos when it comes to food, I’m there for you.
I love to cook and just seeing people eat and enjoying my food gives me so much joy. But, in all my years of cooking, I have come to learn a lot of thing and developed my own hacks in the kitchen which I would share a few with you today.
It’s no news that no one likes doing dishes. I know people who can prepare a whole meal and end up leaving the dirty dishes for days cos they just feel lazy or maybe they’re probably just dirty. Cooking can be fun but doing dishes is not fun. No one wants to cook and at the end of the day have a thousand dishes waiting to be washed. But , we can’t obviously do away with dirty dishes if we wish to cook and even eat.
So, to solve this problem of not wanting to do dishes after cooking, one hack I started to use in my kitchen is the ‘wash as you go hack’. It’s simple and convenient and this is how it works. As you cook, do your dishes. Let’s say you’re preparing stew. You use your knife and blender first. So, while your stew is on fire, you wash your knife and blender. By the time you need to use a ladle or something else, you would have no blender waiting to be washed. This saves time and makes your cooking more efficient.
Now, let’s talk about groceries. I don’t know how many people you live with or eat with but you’d agree with me that foodstuffs are very costly. I live alone , yet the amount of money I spend on food every month would blow your mind. One hack that has saved me a lot is buying in bulk. It saves time, money and even your energy. Going out to always buy a bottle of oil, spice or Maggi cube won’t help you. Instead, draw a budget for two weeks or the whole month and go get the stuff you need. Refrigerate them and eat when you wish to. At the end of the day, you would see how much money you saved from doing that. This is something most people don’t pay attention to but trust me, it’s really worth it.
I hope these hacks help someone out there in one way or the other. A healthy life is a happy life.

Now when I say you’re a brilla you’ll deny. Who has a library in their room? God abeg oo. Me who didn’t know how to read sef 😂.
Not knowing how to cook till senior high is pretty weird for an African lady though even though I don’t see a problem with it. You know early on our parents make sure the girl child helps out in the kitchen and stuff so they ought to know how to cook at an early stage.
You that you prepared banku spaghetti how can you claim you’re a chef now😒
😂😂see big man like you.
By dad was always backing me when my mom is complaining. He will say she should let me study.😂😂 But I was reading love novels oo.
Allow allow. The past is not the present.😹
