Welcome Back!

Hello and welcome back to my space! It is another exciting week, being the 3rd week of the #dreemportchallenge for the month of July 2024, featuring the collaboration between @dreemport and @worldmappin communities.

Adventure Time!

I have had several travel adventures in my life, but there are some I will not forget in a hurry because of how special they were.

Many such adventures have had to do with taking the children in my school out for academic excursions. It is always amazing how impactful these excursions are on the children that participate.

For this reason, we always make plans to get the children exposed to places and people that will make them to start dreaming big.

A Visit To The Airport

One of the excursions we embarked on recently was an excursion to the International Wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria.

During the preparation for the excursion, there was need for an advance party, so I and one of the teachers in my school had to go to make some arrangements at certain offices in the Airport. This was done at about one week to the excursion date.

We were able to get the support of a private aviation company, and they promised to make the excursion an enjoyable experience for the little children.

We were given reflective jackets to use on that day as they took us inside to have a view of their hangar and give us guidelines so we would know how to organise the children on the excursion day.

The D-Day

One week later, we arrived at the Airport with the children, and were welcomed as VIPs by the officials of Execujet Aviation Nigeria Ltd.

These officials led us to in to the hangar where some aircrafts were were packed. Some engineers were carrying out maintenance work on some of the jets that were on ground.

The children were split into groups and taught about aircrafts. The guides were ready for the questions from the children, and most of the children wanted to learn how to fly an airplane.

Then we were taken inside one of the jets so the kids could sit inside and have some snacks while taking turns sitting on the pilot's seat and learning about the controls.

From where we were, we saw some aircrafts taking off, and some others landing.

Then, of course, we had a lot of fun posing for pictures before finally taking our leave.

I took pictures with some of the kids. But the chaps in the picture below were younger than the rest, and they all said they would love to be Pilots in the future.

My joy is that the children always have something to dream about, and I am happy that I get to play a positive part in helping them start dreaming.

I pray their dreams come true for them. Right now, I am planning another excursion that will take place when we resume for next session, and when the rains stop.

Thanks for reading. I hope to see you again. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section, and I will get back to you.

All images are mine.

They must have had a really good time, this kind of excursion allows to the children to get exposed to things that would widen their perspective of life and also allow them dream of things they wouldn't have thought of on a Normal day
