Visit the beautiful architecture of the Chinese Hok Tek Pekong Shrine in Hat Yai.
Hello friends
Today I am proud to present the beauty of Chinese art and culture. I had the opportunity to travel to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, Southern Thailand 1 week ago. One day I had a chance to pass by and saw a shrine located near Kim Yong Market which is a popular market for tourists. This shrine is called Hok Tek Pek Kong which is a small shrine in a small area in the alley of the state road.
Even though it's only a small shrine but the artistic beauty is so abundant that I can't wait to go inside to feel the beauty in front of me. This place also serves as a almshouse during the annual Vegetarian Festival. On normal days, this is a quiet place with opening and closing times.
Just the entrance to the inside of the shrine We will see art that is beautiful and unique clearly. The dragon is a deity and is the identity of the Chinese people according to ancient beliefs. Although I do not know deeply about the ancient story about the dragon of Chinese history. But every Chinese temple or shrine will always have a dragon statue and that makes us like the uniqueness as well.
Because the place is small and not very big, the entrance is next to a road where cars pass by all the time. In front of the entrance there are white lions tied with red ribbons on the left and right facing the street.
In a small area, but being able to create a shrine that comes out beautifully and perfectly is very difficult to find. Because as far as I can see, the small shrine building areas do not have such beautiful sculptures adorning them. Therefore, this place is popular and quite well known to people in Hat Yai District. I looked at the various elements, whether it was the roof, the small pavilion, or even the pillars with dragons wrapped around the top. The roof was decorated with both dragons and kilins. Everything looked just right. It didn't look too much. I think my friends would. think like me
In front, there is a very large and tall pillar. At the beginning of the pillar there is a long dragon wrapped around the pillar, which is a very beautiful and intricate sculpture. And every pillar in this shrine has a dragon wrapped around every pillar too.
On the side is the residence of the shrine keeper and the venue for the annual Chinese festivals or festivals. This shrine is considered a gathering place for Thai-Chinese people to come together to do good and help those who are more difficult.
In front of the shrine where there is a large incense burner for the worshipers to place incense sticks there. Even the incense burner has the beauty of the uniqueness of the dragon and the roof that expresses the uniqueness of China clearly. This incense burner is made of marble which is very large and heavy.
This Pek kong Shrine was created when a kind-hearted person with faith in Pek kong donated land to build a shrine and joined with other believers to procure and donate funds to build the shrine. This has been completed. The shrine was previously built with wood, which over time has decayed beyond repair, and now it has been rebuilt entirely with cement. This shrine is decorated with polished colored stones with patterns simulating images of Bodhisattvas, gods, and auspicious animals according to the beliefs of Mahayana Buddhism. It is a single-story building, and inside, new and large replicas have been built. More than before, which is worshiped by those who have great faith in the Pek Kong image. This place is worshiped by Thai-Chinese people who have come to live in this country.
This door received donations from well-wishers. The mural above is a wall painting that communicates stories of good deeds throughout history.
side wall They all had dragon designs on them, which looked quite strange.
My family and I went to worship and visit the beauty of this shrine. I watched the beauty so fun that I still didn't want to come back, but because I had a business to do so I cut my mind back. I always thought that if I had the opportunity to travel to Hat Yai again, I would visit here again.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to check out my article and see the photos of this Chinese shrine. I hope you all enjoy it. If there are any errors, I apologize. See you again in the next post.
