Why Okra Soup Will Ever Remain My favourite Dish for Eternity.
It's my pleasure to participate in hive Reach Out initiative week 24.
How okra soup came to be my favourite dish is a mystery because before now, I detested okra but the day my friend cooked it and I eventually ate it, suddenly I fell in love with it. It was from that day that I realized that a meal can become someone’s favourite because of how it is prepared. Before this day, I had been eating okro soup but it never occurred to me that it could hit me differently.
Until this moment, I never knew how to cook, I have been indifferent to cooking because of how stressful it appears to be hence I prefer eating out.
Some reasons I prefer okro soup are that it is cost-effective to cook, the ingredients are fresh and healthy for the body and it can be eaten with fufu, garri and rice. Moreover, it is less stressful to it unlike other foods
Preparing okra soup
The ingredient needed is Okro, fish, meat, vegetables, periwinkle, pepper, stockfish, crayfish, seasonings and palm oil.
How to go about it
Prepare all ingredients before you start cooking, with this, it makes the cooking easier and nicer.
First of all, slice your okra into little portions, and keep them aside. Steam your meat, fish, stock fish and periwinkle together while doing this ensure that add onions, seasoning cubes and pepper. When done, slice your vegetables (some might use pumpkin leaves, some uziza leaves).
Put your pot on fire, pour in your steamed meat and fish, add a little water and allow it to steam. Add your okra and allow it to steam and do not cover your pot when you've added okra. Add blended crayfish and stir for 5 seconds, add pepper as well then taste for the seasoning and salt and adjust if need be. Add red oil and allow it to cook for 5 minutes. Add your vegetable and bring it down from the fire. Serve and enjoy your meal.
The beauty of okra soup is that you can use it as soup to eat eba or fufu or you can use it as a sauce or stew to eat rice, yam and others. It's the kind of food that I can eat every day without getting tired. Also, okra is a vegetable that can fit into multiple meals.
