Liberal Criticizing Liberals: Nancy Mace
I watch a lot of American lately night shows. I started watching around 2018 or so, and I started because of the South African comedian Trevor Noah who took over Comedy Central's The Daily Show from the legendary Jon Stewart.
Trevor Noah stayed on that show for 7 years, and I watched every single episode he made.
I've continued to watch up to 90% of the show even though he left because watching him made me fall in love with the other characters on the show, and the other characters are still on the show.
And, for those that watch, how cool is it that Jon Stewart is back, eh? (Because through Noah I've come to love Stewart and recognize that he's indeed a big legend).
Around 2021 I also discovered and fell in love with another late-night show called The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. I absolutely love the dude Colbert and I now have watched up to 5 years worth of his show. Damn.
I also watch a bit of Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.
So with all these years of watching American late-night shows that mainly talk about the news and politics, plus the fact that I'm an author and a voracious reader, I can comfortably say I know more about American politics than at least 90% of Americans.
I think so because I know enough to know most Americans don't know shite about what's going on in their politics 😅.
That said, I'm more of a Liberal and a supporter of the Democrats. But I'm not a blind supporter or just a loyalist. I'm more logical than anything else.
Like Bertrand Russell once said, one can't really be any label they choose if they're logical, because there'll always be points where they disagree with those labels due to logic. (Paraphrased)
So as someone who mostly agrees with the Liberals and Democrats, and someone who watches these shows, I know that these shows mostly agree with the Liberals and Dems, I think no one is in a better position to call them out than myself.
Call them out when they go out of line, that is. I also think it would be a fun type of content to make, so I've called this series "Liberal Criticizing Liberals", so here we go!
Nancy Mace
Nancy Mace is a Republican House Representative for South Carolina. And she's getting on the news for her fight against transgender people using the bathroom of the gender they transitioned to.
That is, trans women should use the men's bathroom and not the female's bathroom.
She's mostly engaging in this fight because Sarah McBride is a transgender woman who has just been elected to represent Delaware and Mace would like it to be clear that McBride is not allowed to use the women's bathroom.
Now, this is a legit debate and even though I'm a Liberal, I don't think people should be vilified because of the opinions they hold on this issue, especially when they've stated that their problem is not with trans people but with the bathroom issue:
Look what The Daily Show labeled it:
How can they consider this an anti-trans crusade? That is just blowing this thing out of proportion and making Mace seem worse than she is. This is a clear case of the media framing headlines in a way that is not necessarily the truth but a way that would make a story get the desired response.
And this is one of the main reasons I'm calling this out, the media should be called out every time they do this so that people would learn more about the tricks the media uses and more people would become immune to those tricks.
