Juarez, Land of Ink – Rio Claro [En-Es]

Juárez, Land of Ink.png

It was January 19, 2025. I woke up with a headache. I needed to escape. I had to run away, even if only for a moment, from the room. You might wonder: why? Simply put, I’m a small fraction of my own dream. Let me tell you a story. It’s mine, but it could become yours. I wrote every word while listening to “The Rose Song” by RIO. Listen to it and connect by reading.

If I decide to escape, will there be a problem? I repeat: I escaped. Where did I go this time? My dream has always been to travel, to get to know Venezuela. Not just to see how beautiful it is, but to help build it. Strange, right? In the end, I might also end up escaping from this beautiful, strange land.

My brother told me we were going on a trip. We started the motorcycle, and after getting ready, our destination was a place where we could disconnect. It was necessary for me, vital. December had been chaotic: I worked every day, even the day I left for the trip. All of this made me feel one thing: my body was collapsing. I needed to forget everything and simply surround myself with nature.

I had rarely been to the south of the Lara State. This place is the most beautiful part of it. The reason lies in the mountainous formation that makes up the Venezuelan Andes mountain range. Yes, the south of Lara is technically part of the mountain range that stretches across South America.

We traveled for about 40 minutes by motorcycle to reach Juarez from Barquisimeto, a small town in Land of Ink, near Rio Claro, which was full of small settlements and mountains.

To get to my destination, we passed through incredibly narrow dirt roads, but it was clear that people passed through there. Something striking: there was nothing around. Everything was plantations or agricultural production.

5.jpg

During the ride, I noticed a food storage silo. The view was amazing; it was something old. There are very few operational silos left in Venezuela, and I’m not sure if this one was still functioning.

It was clear that the silo was on private property. Seeing it made me feel that there is still an opportunity. An opportunity to change and build a different future through present actions.

4.jpg

In that same town, I found an incredible shrub. It was beautiful; the branches stretched toward the street and brushed against the electrical wiring. Nature is precious and acts according to the movement it desires.

Something that has always caught my attention is the diversity of trees in Venezuela. Seeing this tree, it simply highlighted how beautiful this inhospitable land is. I call it inhospitable because, although it is, it’s also totally pleasant.

I decided to take a photo because I wanted to capture that beauty in a postcard for you and for me. Trees are life; they allow us to breathe and keep going. We are still here because of them. What do you think about this? It might seem like I’m being romantic.

After taking the photo of the tree, we continued our journey. The amazing thing about traveling by motorcycle is that you can feel the wind brush against your skin as you admire the beauty of the surroundings. The surroundings are the art and the postcard that stay in your memories.

Do you know what the most exciting part was? The answer is simple: telling this story. The green mountains looked breathtaking. As we moved forward, the clouds crossed the sky and intertwined with the omnipotent space. Nature is like that; you and I are small compared to it.

7.jpg

We reached our destination. I was impressed; the first reason was that I hadn’t gone too far from where I live, and the view was beautiful. It was a sort of natural viewpoint that stood out, imposing itself as I looked at it. I thought: I am a small man.

My story continues. Don’t leave, I’m not done yet. I’m just beginning. My destination was supposed to be a kind of small settlement or agricultural land. The surprising thing was that it was all in the middle of the mountains.

6.jpg

I’m showing you a photo. We decided to park the motorcycle in a house made of mud. The scene in this photo is beautiful: the sky above the house, the mud, and the typical pieces of dry sugarcane wood used to build the structure. Incredible and unmistakably natural beauty that envelops you with its form and elegance.

8.jpg

There’s something else I need to write. I can’t leave it out: behind that house were several hills. Those small green mountains, surrounded by trees, were unique. A scene that can only be seen there. Simple nature, expressive and beautiful at the same time.

9.jpg

I started. The view from there was breathtaking; the mountains varied in all shades of green. Meanwhile, at the foot of the mountains, the houses of the town were visible in a simulated manner.

10.jpg

I’m showing you another perspective. This one will surely impact you. I know you’ll fall in love with all the beauty. Everything in one place.

11.jpg

One photo that captivated me was the one showing the city in the distance. This photograph, without a doubt, is the most beautiful I could capture. You can easily see how the mountains form the natural barrier to the urban environment beneath them.

12.jpg

In Juarez, Land of Ink, I simply observed how beautiful Venezuela is: the color of the mountains. I ate, had some alcohol, and laughed. This place is perfect to disconnect and contemplate the dominion of nature.

2.jpg

Finally, I must say I remembered a phrase from a novel I read a while ago, where one of the viceroys of the Spanish crown, after being deposed, said the following before leaving the Americas: "How beautiful you are!" I decided to tell this journey in a literary way, without leaving out any of the things I experienced.

13.jpg

Don’t forget, someday you must come and live this experience. The reason is simple: here you will see how beautiful Venezuela’s mountains and nature truly are.

Juárez, Tierra de Tinta – Río Claro

Era 19 de enero de 2025. Amanecí y tenía dolor de cabeza. Necesitaba escapar.

Si decido escapar, ¿no habrá problema? Reitero: me escapé.

Llegamos a nuestro destino.

No te separes, no he terminado. Estoy comenzando.
