It is sad that a relative tried to swindle you for money. It is also a shame that he did not think about your relationship and would ruin it because of greed.
Although one should be able to trust relatives, most times it is better to research and find out things for oneself - to avoid misinformation. You were lucky to meet Abdul - who provided you with better information and helped you like a brother.
