It was a night to remember indeed. Asking a child to go out in the rain and dark is heartless. Then sending you out again to get the stovetop was really mean. The entire experience seems cold and harsh. It is good that your mom recovered and that limited your time with these people. People are indeed unpredicatable but you made the best of the situation by learning how to do chores - certainly your mom was proud of you.

I never expected such treatment from that family because they always cared for us in the presence of our parents. It's a good thing they showed their true colour and we also did what was best for us.
The best part of all was how I learned to do chores just in case I need to be in charge of the house.
